I was so excited as I never see craigslist ads for Gi joe stuff in my area. The ad read, “1980's gi Joe collection. Interested text or call”. I called the number and asked what the person had she said I have 13 or more figures and 3 or so vehicles with file cards and all accessories and extra guns all for $45 ish. I asked if we could meet and that I was coming from 45 minutes away we then agreed on a place to meet. I showed up a few minutes early filled with anticipation I was imagining how big the box would be. She finally shows up and I hop out to claim my great find. We meet she is holding a grocery bag and explains this is the only stuff she brought because her son took the rest out or something. I opened the bag she had 6 very loose figures and two vehicle shells. The figures I could identify were Python Televiper, Gyro-Viper, 88 Slaughter, and two figures I did not recognize. The vehicles a Destro’s A.G.P. and one I did not recognize. I did not look at the weapons or file cards except to notice none of which were for the figures in the bag. She could tell I was disappointed and quickly said the price has been reduced to $30. She asked for me to make an offer I told her I value the items at $5-$10 she said she could go as low as $25 because two of the figures go for $100 as she looked them up. I told her we were too far apart and sorry for wasting her time and we parted company.
What is the value of this collection to you? Any Craigslist stories of your own? |

Only one for me is a guy posted a 1991 carded Duke for $10. I called him and he said he had more...
Went over to his place, he had a complete Hammerhead, Crusader Shuttle, General playlet, Nightraven, Condor, a bunch of early 90's figures complete. I took it all for $100. Used all of it as trade fodder except for the Crusader shuttle... it was the only one I didn't already have. It was a good score, and helped a lot of my buddies get things they wanted. |

I got a MASK collection with Boulder Hill for 50 bucks. It had all the classic pieces almost complete. I sold it to someone here on the tank due to lack of room and I could care less about 2/3rds of Mask. Though Boulder Hill was pretty neato. Kinda has the same quality plastic as a board game.
The guy who sold it to me thought I was a total freak for buying it. I wanted to explain to him I would be the most normal person to come pick up his mask collection.

Craigslist sucks for Joes in my area. If they're on there the sellers are asking way too much for them!

Ive had 3 scores on ebay.
The 1st was mostly JvC, SpyTroops and 25th stuff MOC with about 40 loose complete ARAH figures and some vehicles. The lot also had 4 of the DTC vehicles (ROCC, RHINO, NIGHT HUMMV and HISS) MISB. At first the guy wanted what I estimated the lot to be worth at decent resale. Finally a couple months later his price came down to my range and I picked up the lot and made a little $$$ on it. The next lot I liked better because it was all ARAH stuff. 30 or so MOSC 93-94 era figures. Some Street Fighter figures and vehicles, about 12 to 15 MISB vehicles and 3 MISB Power Fighters and some other randomness. I kind of wish I had hung onto the carded figures but I pretty much made my money back just selling those in one big lot to a buddy. I ended up keeping 2 Power Fighters, a MOnster Blaster APC and a Ghost Striker MISB. The rest went to interested parties. My favorite craiglist score is all old school Arah. About 250 loose complete figures, other figures and tons of vehicle stuff. The guy was only interested in making money on the figures and would throw in the vehicle stuff for free (which actually tripled the value of the lot). So we came to a price and luckily I was able to fit it all in my car. That lot was a lot of work because everything had to be cleaned but there were tons of figures, loose accessories and vehicle parts and some awesome complete stuff. I kept a few choice pieces and Im still trying to get rid of the leftovers. |
