Hasbro revenue misses on weak sales in preschool, boys lines - Yahoo! Finance
Quote:
(Reuters) - Hasbro Inc (HAS.O), the No. 2 U.S. toy company, posted a third-quarter profit that topped Wall Street expectations but sales fell short of estimates, hurt by a drop in revenue at its boys and preschool product lines.
Sales at its boys category, which includes toys such as Transformers, fell 12 percent to $471.1 million, while sales of preschool products fell 5 percent to $206 million. Hasbro, whose brands also include Monopoly, G.I. Joe, Nerf and Mr. Potato Head, has been working with its U.S. retail partners to better manage inventories this year. The company has been trying to shift toy deliveries closer to peak demand periods.

I just think the marketing people need to get a clue about case assortments. Oh yeah, price points. Drop the MSRP even a $1 will help sales. If they can reduce the retail price, then increase production to a higher number of units so the cost per unit goes down, then maybe they can move more units. Not sure of the magic numbers, but I'm sure they're out there.
Also, I hope the night landing isn't packed like 1 or 2 per case. They need at least have a case of night landing. Then the alphas might sell through. |

Another article mentioned the drastic drop was due to weak sales of Beyblade and Transformers.
"In the Boys category, net revenues decreased 12% to $471.1 million. MARVEL products continued to post strong year-over-year gains globally, which were more than offset by expected declines in TRANSFORMERS and BEYBLADE products. Ya' think,
Seriously with the mess Hasbro has been this year all around I'm a tad suprized this wasn't worse. Case assortments is an old arguement we aren't going to win, Depreist has made certain of it ;-). Oh and marketing doesn't touch case assortments BTW. Also we need to realize "Sales" for them means cases, not individual figs (which they have admited in SW Q&A's they do not keep track of individual sales). What Hasbro needs to realize is that the outdated model they have been useing (Started by Toybiz and Mcfarline) is catching up with them finally. Also the excuses of "Kids" or "retailers" or "bean counting executives" don't hold water. Take some accountablity, straighten the problems out and be done with it rather than making excuses and trudging on in the same direction hopeing things will work themselves out. |

Maybe because Beyblade and all those gimmicky crappy indiscernible blobs of plastic are a complete waste of time and money?

Here's a better suggestion...utilize the HTS.com website so we can at least buy the product they are having a hard time getting on shelves...peak or not.
