Everybody was kung fu fighting. Those cats were fast as lightning, in fact it was a little bit frightening. They fought with expert timing.

I call BS on Hama here. How could someone NEVER see a popular show based on characters that YOU created? Sometimes I think these comic guys just give us the "cool thing" to say so that they seem mysterious or other-worldly or some other super cool starving artist type of thing.

It is true that Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow never squared off in the original Sunbow Cartoon. Storm Shadow fought Quick Kick first, and then Spirit.. but never Snake Eyes. I don't understand why Larry Hama not having watched the show is a big deal. Larry, the creator of both of these characters (Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow), also never made them square off completely. They were not designed to be enemies.
There was a scene in issue 21 where Stormy throws his sword at SE, not knowing that it is him, and in issue 27 they beging to fight until Stormy and Snake Eyes reveal themselves to each other. Lastly, once Stormy Shadow is under Cobra Commander's brain wave machine towards the very end of the series, the commander sends Stormy along with Billy and the Baroness to attack Snake Eyes. I think Snake Eyes gets away without fighting much. My point is, it was never intended by the creator of the characters for these two ninjas to be enemies, nor to fight. They are the closest two characters of anyone in the joe mythos. The only reason why Hasbro wanted Storm Shadow to be "bad" was to help drive toy sales. To give a nemesis to Snake Eyes... a white ninja against a black ninja; etc. The DiC cartoon showed their relationship the best, as far as the cartoons go. As far as anything in Valor Vs Venom or SPYTROOPS is concerned... they were just alternative universe crap put together to sell toys. Doesn't count in the "Canon", so to speak.

There is no cohesive "canon" to the Joeverse. The toys were one line, the Marvel/DDP comic another, the Sunbow cartoon another, the DiC cartoon another, and so on and so on... They are all Joe and all are just as relevant. There is nothing connecting the cartoon to the comic to the toys except names and some personality traits. It's a whole lot easier to view 'em as seperate sides of the same coin. And Hama didn't create Storm Shadow or Snake Eyes, they are Hasbro characters. Hama gave them personality in the comic books. Others gave 'em their personalities in the cartoons. Now, it seems like the comic is the overall mythos that is used for newer stuff (this being stuff after the comic and Sunbow cartoon, which came out at the same time), which is why you see elements of comic-created stuff show up in later toys and cartoons. Remember, that the Sunbow cartoon and the comic book were out at the same time and running concurrently. The DiC cartoon was able to take popular elements from the comic book and use them in the cartoon. So was Hasbro. That is why you see the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow relationship in "newer" things and not in Sunbow. Sunbow came out the same time that the comic did and ran concurrently and was seperate continuity. Now if the Marvel comic had come out years before, then the Sunbow cartoon, you probably would have seen the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow relationship.
