Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to the Tank and I was hoping to get some opinions from fellow Joe fans about this topic. I am a huge fan of the ARAH line, and I am excited because the 25th line has the potential to correct what I view as a problem with the toy line. The problem, as I see it, is that sufficient vehicles for both Joe and Cobra either do not exist, or are extremely rare. I will now elaborate on this problem by categorizing vehicles into Land, Air, and Sea. Then I will list what I see as a problem, and then present a solution that can be achieved by the 25th anniversery line. I would love some feed back. Enjoy.
Land: Problem: Cobra has inferior armor (hiss) compared to Joe armor (mobat, mauler, patriot grisley) Exception: The Crimson Attack Tank (black 1985 version and red 2002? version) provided Cobra with a suitable tank, however it is very rare, and it is Crimson Guard not Mainline Cobra armor. 25th Line solution: Release a mainline Cobra armored tank. The Mobat mold from the UBP could be painted blue or black and released to provide cobra with a suitable tank for its' armored forces. Air (helicopters): Problem: Cobra helicopters (fang all versions and mamba) are inferior to Joe helicopters (dragon fly, tomahawk, retaliator, locust, night attack chopper) Exception: Crimson Command Chopper provided cobra with an excellent helicopter, however they are rare and once again are for the Crimson Guard, not mainline Cobra. 25th line Solution: Release a cobra dragonfly painted blue or black to give Cobra mainline army suitable helicopters, you could call it the Super Fang Air (Air superiority Fighters): Problem: Most of Cobra's air craft are not designed for air superiority. The Rattler is ground support, the Night Raven is for reconnaissance, the Firebat and night adder have a limited range and can only be used for defensive counter air missions, and the condor was a bomber. Exception: The Python conquest (excellent, but rare and not mainline Cobra) the Liquidator (A perfect cobra fighter, but extremely rare, one could argue that this fighter originally appeared in the original ARAH miniseries with the Mass Device, check out the planes that attack the Skystrikers in the opening battle) and the Hurricane (very rare and too bulky to be considered the best in my opinion) 25th line solution: At a minimum, release the python conquest, we know Hasbro still has the mold. Also, release the Liquidator, but paint it gray to match the fighters used in the original miniseries. Now that's classic. Sea: Problem: Joe and Cobra had some excellent boats in the Whale and hydrafoil, but they are difficult to find these days. (I exclude smaller boats because in my opinion there have always been enough of those for each side) 25th Line Solution: The Moccasin being released as the Sting Raider was a great step, but I think we all want the Whale and hydrafoil back in large numbers so we can build a fleet. Final thought, would anyone be interested if Hasbro made smaller battle ships for each side that could be used with the Flagg as like a battle fleet. I'm thinking the boats would be slightly larger than the Whale. Maybe the Cobra version could even carry a Fire Bat so it could fight the Flagg. They would need to make new molds, but it I think it could be cool. I would love to hear thoughts and other ideas. |

The WHALE is another vehicle I'd love to see come back since I didn't have one as a kid.

Cheesy repaints are not the answer. That screams "lame." If the Joe line is popular enough to support it, new vehicles should be created to fill those voids, IMO.

I have to agree with what your saying. I think even the Joes don't have a decent main battle tank. The mobat is so outdated and not very versatile. One figure that has to stand outside the hatch is not very good for their main battle tank.
After that it's already down to the mini tanks like the armadillo and neutralizer. There was the patriot grizzly from the vvsv line but that one went to the other extreme and most people dont like it very much. A lot of people have been asking for a remake of the mauler mbt. Why Hasbro hasn't done this yet is really annoying. As for cobra, they have a bunch of various tanks, various hiss, rage, crimson mobat, but again no real mbt. People seem to want something like the T-72. Now that I think of it, cobra doesn't even really have a standard apc or even jeep recon unit. The stinger repaint is supposed to coming out, but even that isn't really a equivalent to something like the Humvee or even the vamp or awestriker. It's more of an anti aircraft unit. |

i agree, i want all old stuff, but after i get all that, then i am so open for new stuff we never seen before! i just want the old stuff first. but likw thunder said, cheap repaints aint the answer, give us our original line, then make some new stuff. but try to keep it like old joe style, an where they can fit in like they belong.

LAND: I don't want a Cobra MOBAT or Mauler, I want a Joe MOBOT AND Mauler! I have enough HISS I's, bust out some HISS II's the Maggot. AIR: The Rattler is a fine plane for aerial combat, if you're looking for something more dogfight specific, let's look at the Condor. Sea: The Moray could wipe the sea floor with a WHALE. Cobra already has the edge here. For me, I like small (vintage) Cobra vehicles. I don't army build the Joe's. They are a govt funded small organization with the best troops and the best technology. I army build the hell out Cobra because of this. They can't win through skill and weapon superiority. The win by sheer force. Small inexpensive craft that just over whelm the competition. HISS tanks, Firebats and Water Moccasins. It's all about numbers. That's the type of strategist I've always seen Cobra Commander as.

I heard that. Even if the mold wasn't damaged, why on earth would they release the mauler as a convention exclusive? There is obviously a high demand for the maulers return and a lot of people wouldn't be able to get their hands on these even though it's probably the best tank in the entire line.

Well I certainly agree that repaints are not the best solution, it seems like Hasbro really likes to reuse old molds. (I assume to save money) That being said, if we can get new vehicles that fill this void then that will be great, if not, a repaint is better than nothing in my opinion. I reccomended the vehicles above because the older molds fit in with the 25th anniversery line, and I think Hasbro would be more likely to make them because they would be cheaper.
