I guess you got a point there because school "friends" and neighborhood "friends" are two totally different social groups. I was pushing it buying them at 13 but I was still in that transition age of kid/teen.

My little boy LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba like you wouldn't believe. It's his favorite show and sometimes letting him watch is the only way to get him to even eat.

I'm in the same boat. If I want a moment's peace I have to put on Yo Gabba Gabba. He's been hooked on it since he was three months old. It was the first thing he ever showed any interest in and his obsession is still going strong. I hope he doesn't end up a 30 year old man on a Yo Gabba Gabba message board.

That's weird. My son has a bunch of joes but never plays with them. As I clicked on this thread, I turned around to see what he was doing.......

My 10 yr old son has loved them since he was 5-6 years old and shows no signs of slowing down. He has been Snake Eyes for Halloween, maybe Duke this year.
He started out like I did, on Star Wars, but Joe was always secondary for me. In his case it's been the reverse for a while now, he's all about Joes, military games, books ect. It's funny because when we travel to the US and he sees a soldier he freezes up in excitement and is just in awe of them.

My 6 year old nephew is really into Spider-man and has a bunch of MU figures. I've given him several GI joe figures over the past couple years I got cheap. He plays with them ALL the time but always refers to them as someone else. like he calls the Baroness figure Black Cat and Cover Girl he calls either Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane. He actually broke Cover Girl's hand several times and it had to be glued back on. He really likes all the different color neo vipers too and just calls them bad guys. So with that said, as toys he loves Gi Joe, as a brand he doesn't really have an interest. He won't watch Renegades or the original cartoon at all.

My son loves GI Joe but I introduced it to him. He loves ARAH, Hates Sigma 6 and thinks Renegades is ok.
Problem we have is that we have so much stuff now it’s imposable to play. It literally takes us two days to set up the house with everything when we want to play. Then it will take another full day just to clean it all up, wrapping everything, separating all the guns, missiles, weapons, putting it in boxes, labeling the boxes, etc…. It's just too much work. Not to mention the wife hates when the house full of Joe's. Needless to say we don’t do it that often. I am working hard to make our basement into a huge GI Joe diorama/playing area. It's slow going but I hope to maybe have it done by this spring. I also have an 18 month old boy so there’s another future Joe fan (I Hope). When I found out we were having another boy I was like, “Yes! 12 more years of GI Joe”!!! LOL anyways.... I think if I didn’t get him into it he probably wouldn’t even know what GI Joe was. It’s sad really. |
