The Comics version of Cobra Commander has to be the quintessential essence of his character at times bumbling, silly (getting his ass handed by Scarlett while trying to order Alley Vipers to shoot her) to being ruthless (shooting his own troops for their incompetence and the great frieghter purge). DDP continued the evolution of his character and finally had us see how far Cobra Commander was willing to go without returning to the man that was trying to hold on to his humanity.

Comic. Comic CC is favorite.
Comic CC's personality is how I would envision him if he was actually a real dictator, and therefore the more realistic of the two personas.

BTW, Wahoo McDaniel never held the Intercontinental Title... that was a WWF-only belt. Wahoo, however, did hold many regional belts and several NWA titles.
I think Devil's Due missed the boat just a little bit with CC's character. He's not a sadistic killer. He's out to make money. That was always his goal. The US government was in his way. He's more like a psycho libertarian than a plain ol' psycho. I saw the whole WWIII arc as a bit misguided in that regard. He doesn't want to "rule the world"...but he does want all of its money.

He was never out to make money, at least he didn't start that way, and really only during the "middle part" did he lean more towards that and it was mostly "ruling the world thru money". He was always about taking over. He started out as anti-government and evolved into the world dominating guy he was in WW3. It was a natural evolution of the character. He first started out (as shown in Marvel and DDP) as an ex-used car salesman that was unhappy with the government and the way they ran the country and treated people.
