You know, just to illustrate how big a nerd I am, I actually created a command chart of all the joes from '82 to '94. I took their ranks and job specialties from each filecard, ordered them by rank and seniority, and placed them in the chart. I wish I could find it, as I would post it on here. Any ex-military folks would recognize the format immediately. Took me a few days to compile the data, too. Strangely enough, GI Joe seems a bit light on infantry specialists...

I do borrow a little bit off the cartoon for this one. For me it is:
1. General Hawk, C.O. 2. Duke, 2nd in command( even though he is an E-8 master Sgt. ) 3. Flint 4. Beach Head 5. Sgt. Slaughter After that I have mission specific leaders such as Lt. Falcon, Stalker, Gung-Ho, etc. |

Dennis Quaid. He killed bigger Jaws. Then Flint/Falcon/Duke split responsibilities. Stalker and Beachhead work in the field more than the others but sometimes Flint and Falcon will get their hands dirty. Duke always seems to get captured, for some reason.

Stalker led the Joes for a while. Then Hawk took command. Beyond that there's not a rigid hierarchy, but some Joes consistently lead squads or fireteams:
Squad leaders Flint, Slaughter, Gung Ho and (near the end of the conflict with Cobra) Rock N Roll and Snake Eyes Fireteam leaders Falcon, Hit N Run, Beachhead and Duke |
