With the passing of Neil Armstrong and reading the recent RIP post, it was suggested that we get back to remembering real heroes. In today's world of Reality celebs and sports stars that are the supposed role models of the younger crowd, I say let Hasbro remember and honor real heroes that braved that last frontier. I was born in the 60s, grew up crazy about rockets and moon landings and exploration of any kind into the void of space. We already have figures that could easily be made into astronauts and a shuttle. I would like to suggest to Hasbro a commemorative figure of Neil Armstrong and others that contributed to our expansion into the unknown. A lunar lander and a command module that connect and also seperate for play or display would be welcomed and cherished by any Joe or moonshot fan. Not to mention for teachers and young kids that never heard or saw anything about the Apollo missions. Id also like to add that a portion of sales go toward a scholarship in the name of Neil Armstrong or to his family's favorite charity. This could be linked to education to help kids and really get them into what the math and sciences could do to help get mankind back to exploring, whether it be under the oceans, in the jungles, at the polar caps or in the vast expanse of space.

I would really like to see astronauts from all the programs but if we could just get the Lander and the Command module with seperating capsule---Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins deserve to be made as well.--I could deal with that. I dont know what the price point would be but I would drop $40-50 bucks easy for each set.
LEM--have folding legs, opening hatch and removeable roof to see inside. If they add some lights and soundboard, that would be cool, but appropriate stickers work well too. Docking port on top of roof connects to COMMAND MODULE, also LEM seperates from base. Comes with Neil and Buzz--removeable helmets and some small accessories. COMMAND MODULE --Seats 3, opening hatch, capsule separates from body, comes with Michael Collins, top of capsule connects to LEM, comes with stand and APOLLO 11 patch. Comes with some small accessories. |

I voted YES--BUT CAN WE INCLUDE MERCURY AND GEMINI AS WELL.
Good timing! At the same time as this thread pops up I'm playing Mass Effect 1. I just happen to be on the Moon taking out the rogue VI. Last edited by Steelgrave; 09-01-2012 at 01:59 PM.. |

And judging from the lack of replies I'd say the Joe fans STILL won't warm up to anything related to outer space. The fact tat NASA just landed a rover on Mars means nothing.
Bring on the ninjas! Because they're really up to date & more realistic. Last edited by Steelgrave; 09-01-2012 at 08:03 PM.. |

I would love the have a full Apollo G.I. Joe set of figures. Preferably in 12" form along the lines of this:
It is possible Hasbro could make a figure set in the future, assuming they are allowed the likenesses from the families and NASA. That being said, it would be in bad taste to capitalize on someones death this soon, even with good intentions. Perhaps waiting until the 45th anniversary of the moon landing would be best.

I would definately buy a 1/18 box set of figures (or carded individuals) if it became available. A 1/6 figure or 2 would be agreeable only if Sideshow handled the production.

You package it right and make it work, then Joe fans would definately be on board. Hasbro has already done an O ring figure with action astronaut and a small capsule. These could easily fit into the Mercury section. The LEM alone with Aldrin and Armstrong would really kick ass. I know SPACE isnt all that demanded by a good amount of Joe fans, but having a DEFIANT or CRUSADER space shuttle is always a welcome addition to any Joe collection.
Promoting education and reinforcing what has been accomplished by science, math, physics and hard work to me would be a boon for Joe fan, space fan, teacher and anyone that ever dreamed of being an astronaut. |

GI Joe has paid tribute to Mercury (Mission Splashdown), Apollo (Buzz Aldrin) and the Shuttle (Robert Crippen) Astronauts. With the Mercury even having a Mercury Space Capsule.
