Swivel arm battle grip Stalker, purchased at Payless drugstores for $2.99 (or close to it) with my paper route money.
I really wanted snake eyes (duh) but of course they didn't have him. Didn't have a lot of choices either (rocknroll, grunt maybe a zap and that was it). That figure saw a lot of action. The paint on the baret wore though in short order and I repainted it with a little testors green. The color wasn't right (my first custom!) and I was never happy with it. I still have that figure in storage, floppy legs and all. |

I had the big size GI Joe when I was little. When the smaller Joe's arrived in stores I had just graduated from high school. I bought Airborne and Snow-Job and was hooked. I've always liked Airborne. My next two Joes were straight-arm Snake Eyes and Rock n Roll. I took them to college with me that fall and put them on my bookshelf above my desk. For the next year my roommate and his friends took delight in arranging those two in what some might call "unnatural" positions with each other. They really were "fully poseable." Eventually I stopped fixing them and just let them be. Still makes me smile when I think back it.

I "inherited" a bunch of my older brother's old joes, mostly through finding ones they lost and not returning them, I found a Firefly and Crimson Guard this way. The first one I remember being attached to, though possibly not the first one I bought was a T.A.R.G.A.T. I love that guy so much still.

My first Joe was a straight arm Rock n Roll. I'm not 100% sure who my first Cobra was. I think it was either a swivel arm Cobra Soldier, or a Hiss Tank Driver. Those were the only two Cobra's from '83 that I'm positive I had. My brothers had the others, so I can't remember if I actually had a Destro, or if I would just play with my brother's figure.

I had a Breaker missing at least 1 arm, and a Steeler missing crotch piece and legs. Have no idea where they came from.
