I have been buying Joe since 1983 and will continue to due so as long as the figures are cool.
I think anyone who gripes on this site only does so because they think Hasbro isn't doing what they(the collector) wants. We don't always get what we want and we didn't get what we wanted back in the day either. Hasbro is going to do whatever they want to do and we just have to hope as a business, they will take our needs and wants into consideration. There is a broad fan base to consider plus the little kids they are trying hopefully hard to capture. Regardless, I just have to say that GI JOe is a fully realized fantasy with this new 25th anniversary lineup. They really need to double up the cases like the Star Wars stuff. I go to Wally world every night hoping to find a case on the pallets and you have to look carefull because the cases are smallest things and the star wars are huge! There seem to be a lot of army builder collectors and if they would double up on the capacity in a case, they could put more vipers and troopers and stuff like that in they case and a couple case variants would be nice! Not gonna happen but it would be convenient! I would agree that we are on the presuppose of a new grand age of G.I.Joe I just hope Resolute and the new movie will invigorate the kids of the US like the old cartoon and comic did for us old timers. It was a satanically coordinated marketing scheme back in the day and GIJoe had a huge market share. These days, there is so many toy lines in the market and I don't see it happening like it did. Back in the days when Star Wars came out, all the kids on my block were obsessed with it! They had a lot of the toys and we talked about the movies. I was the only kid on my block who had GI Joe. Everyone thought it was stupid. They wanted Storm Troopers and I had Rock N' Roll! When the new Star Wars films came out, I didn't see that kind of response to the new films. I believe kids tastes have changed. Maybe they are into more video games now and the internet. I am eagerly anticipating when this movie hits the theaters because then we will see if it is a sensation which will capture kids hearts and minds. If Hasbro could get a daily series out on Cartoon Network, maybe this would help things too. It would obviously have to be up to the current style so kids would not be alienated from it. Resolute seems fully realized to accomplish this task. Hasbro better get a move on though. I think they have 6 months to make this happen. I just realized this takes millions of dollars to promote and produce these shows. Such a massive investment is staggering! I hope this pays off for them folks.

I will not pretend to know the "real" reason for all this crap, but I do not believe that "no media" is a cause for a dead line. GI Joe got big again with the 25th line and with no media support. Indiana Jones line failed and Star Wars line is failing with media support. I believe the problem is that Hasbro needs grow some ballz and take back control of the product and tell the box stores what they need to do to sell this stuff. If the box stores won't listen then oversell the "media" product when the "media" is available and then let online stores sell the rest "non media" toys exclusively...screw the box stores at that point. |

Even though I'm gonna get killed for this, I do think Hasbro listens to us, the fans,
This line was supposed to be 25 figures to celebrate the 25 years of GI Joe ARAH. Not 25 characters, 25 figures. In the 1st few waves, they doubled up on Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander, Destro, Duke. Then the line expanded and we got characters like CrankCase, Tripwire, Ace, Slipstream, Steeler, Eels, Snow Serpents, & Grand Slam. While VERY cool characters, not always the most popular in the Joeverse. I think they've listened very well to what we want. They allowed us to vote on the Hall of Heros line, and what did we do? Voted to see figures most of us were complaining about being re-released over & over again! Now I agree wave 12 is a bit of a letdown. So was wave 8. And wave 4. But 9, 10, & 11 were awesome, and wave 13 looks to be that way too. If you don't like the repaints, don't buy them. Maybe Hasbro will get the hint and stop making so many. But then we'll complain that the gap in between waves is too long. Face it, we're a hard to please bunch. Just be happy when hasbro makes one of your favorite characters, and don't buy the ones you don't want. It's that simple. And I for one, say thank you hasbro. You have done well. |

We got some good debating goin on here. The upcoming cartoon and movie will not make Joe anymore popular with the Joe loving community. What those 2 things will do is bring Joe to a mainstream audience. If the movie is good and the cartoon is as good as it looked it has the potential of capturing a new generation of Joe fans. These things can be debated but it will either happen or it won't. As far as true diehard fans go we will always be having differences of opinion on what Hasbro does with G.I.Joe. But when it comes down to it their gonna do what they want. We just have to enjoy this ride and if they f*#k something up we'll let them know. They have shown that the do listen to us fans when we talk. Remember, they could have left Major Bludd the way he was, or never fixed crotches, or Dukes arms( took them long enough). We just can't get to critical or we're just gonna drive ourselfs crazy. I'm keeping a positive outlook on this upcoming year with the line, cartoon, and movie. Who knows, maybe Hasbro will surprise us. Can't do anything as bad as G.I.Joe Extreme, I hope.

Remember though, after the internet run this show will go with a possible run on cartoon network. Throw in some toy commercials and put in on before or after that TF animated show and you got your Hasbro "TAKE ME TO THE STORE AND BUY ME ALL THAT STUFF MOM" power hour.
