Christmas 1990 I woke up early, of course, opened up my stuff & everyone else started to open the other gifts. Got a lotta great things . Mom cooks breakfast and about an hour later she knows that I have completely over looked one of my presents asks 'is that everthing?' I say 'yes mam'
She smiles and we walk back into the den and in a big brown bag is the Cobra HammerHead!?!?! I flipped out it was a huge surprise Awesome parents who one second have said you r 2 old for those, then the next second r buying joes for you. |

My Mom would wait in the parking lot for the store to open because there "might" be new Star Wars figures, she even took a job a Sears to get me the goods. My Mother was the ultimate collector, she always put my needs in front. I miss her very much.
My Dad would have none of it, he even threatened to get the cable company to get rid of the G.I. Joe cartoon. He really thought it was stupid, in hindsight, it was pretty dumb. The best was he wouldnt give me the $1.50 to get G.I.Joe #2, said it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. Last year when I visited , I made sure to point out the current value of said comic. He just rolled his eyes... |

My past 37th Birthday and my dad has a big box wrapped up. I thought we didn't do presents any more I said, and He says open it! So when I do it's a box FILLED with all my old Joes and Star Wars figures and vehicles. It was like walking back through time into my childhood. That was a gift I will NEVER forget. I didn't know that he had kept all that stuff, I actually thought I had lost it all though the years....

I'm currently trying to be the awesome parent to a 7 year old boy, though I admit its 50-50 when I buy him something in terms of enjoyment.
We started together with the $1 store Kamakura and Sand Viper figures and have gone from there.
