I think Hasbro has definitely listened to us and it may turn out that the push back of the movie was the best thing that could of happened to this line. So much passion and angst over a line of toys.

Doubtful...these figures were already planned...all the movie accurate ones at that...there were a lot of holes un-revealed for waves 3-5. They just felt they were protecting the movie plot and stuff by hiding the figures but teh delay and the lack of other figure news spurred them to go ahead and appease that angst you speak of or there would have been no reason for them to even attend the con...

You're not the only one. If that was good strategy, the entire Joe line would have been put on hold for a couple years because people are still looking for Lowlight.

About the DG comments: I get it. What I hear is that they were politely saying that they were reconsidering their deal with DG because they were unhappy with distribution, as it has clearly been uneven. And they are trying to figure out why DG can't get figures to excited fans.

I don't know if there was one non-movie product, concept or otherwise, that they showed that DIDN'T send a tingle up my leg. I don't care how well the movie stuff is made, the movie stuff just ISN'T G.I. Joe. Like someone else said, the first movie should have been called Action Force. The character and costume designs are almost all dull, drab and boring. As long as the movie stuff is being produced, the TRUE G.I. Joe toy line is on hiatus. Sure they sneak a proper G.I. Joe figure into the movie line once in a while like the Night Viper, but that's a rarity. And the realistic influence the movie line had on those first couple waves of POC tarnished the non-movie line with its drab boringness. The POC line didn't pop until we started getting pleasingly colored figures like Steel Brigade, Jungle B.A.T., Lowlight, Sci-fi, Lifeline, etc. The movie line must die so that G.I. Joe may live.

They're getting plenty of figures to fans. There are 10,000 DG stores. They can't possibly stock the figures "evenly" unless Hasbro made 10,000 cases, which is extremely doubtful since that's a very high quantity. Which means no store ever needs to get a second case for every figure to be distributed. It's not like Zombie Vipers, Sci-Fis, Lowlights, etc. are any easier to find on any given day. Figures that sell out instantly aren't easy to find. DG isn't doing any worse a job on distribution than any other retailer. And the DG figures aren't going for THAT much on eBay, which proves that a lot of them have been distributed and sold. By the measure of eBay prices, DG is doing a far better job of distribution than the Joe Club, so why is Hasbro still letting the Club sell exclusive figures?
on the con I am very mixed, yes the figs are nice, but its another Duke, another Snake Eyes, another Firefly, nothing dynamic or exciting at all, same old stuff. Red Ninja was a surprize and the sneaks (that were pulled) of flint and roadblock feel a bit fresh (as flint hasn't been done in quite a while and RB is at least the Rock) but agian, this is old ground. THat consept case was loaded to bare with some fresh ideas, THAT's the joe I have been begging for, not more retreads. |

There are over 1,100 completed eBay auctions for "dollar general joe" in the Action Figures category. The Dollar General figures are now going for about $10 each on eBay, especially if you buy the set in one lot. That's the same price as the movie figures are at retail. They would NOT be going for that cheap unless a LOT have been successfully distributed. The DG line is a success. It went to the stores and sold out nationwide. Withholding a second wave is probably the dumbest idea I've ever heard of from Hasbro, and that's saying something. Last edited by JediJones; 07-01-2012 at 12:34 AM.. |

It's easy to keep crappy products that no one wants to buy in stock. They're selling 5 POA Marvel figures for crying out loud. Not to mention the ever popular Combat Heroes. Hasbro is too stupid to realize that the DG Joes have actually sold out, not that DG is "having trouble" distributing them. What we seem to be hearing is that the figures were coming in to stores for a few weeks but have now dried up. It sounds to me like DG distributed the figures to stores and they've sold out, except possibly, I guess, in little rural small towns across America where no collectors live. Granted it's a dumb store to send such a good product to, but if that's the only way Hasbro will get more product out this year, then for God's sake, someone tell them to do it. I have no problem paying $10 a piece for them on eBay if I can't find them for $6.

All I know is that when they introduced the commando style concept with 30th Stalker/POC Snake Eyes/Cobra Trooper, that I was a fan again. Funny thing is they kind of added that style to ALOT of their figures including the Renegades and DG line. I REALLY like that design, and I hope they continue to use it like the future concepts Flint/Firefly etc. As obvious, I really go for my favs which are Snakey/Stalker/Flint/Shipwreck(Polly)/Stormshadow/Firefly/Zartan/CobraCommander. I'm not a HUGE collector, but I definitely keep an eye for the classic's. Hopefully with the momentum from Joecon and the direction Hasbro is heading that things are looking up for the JOE series, and thank God for that. Hopefully they can start setting things in stone and get a little more security in dates and product, but what can you do? Everything in moderation.
