So for as long as Ive been collecting Ive been an opener. Never had any use for packaging and whenever I came home with a new toy it would be freed of its cardboard and plastic prison as soon as humanely possible. But since Ive gotten back into Joes I can't bring myself to open them. I know part of it is because I haven't come up with a good display solution yet, but it's also because I just REALLY like the cards. The artwork on the 25th anniversary and a lot of the POC/30th figures is just awesome and I'd really like to save and display the carbacks but first I need to figure out how to get the bubble off without trashing the card, so...
Anyone have advice on how to go about doing this? Ive thought about solvents like Goo B Gone but was worried it would ruin the art. Would steam work without warping the card to much? I figure someone on here has to have done this before, so any ideas? |

I razor off the bubble trying to not slash the art. Probably not what your going for. I heard a hair dryer will melt the glue and the bubble will fall off, I melted the bubble. Maybe I'll try again. Good luck with yours. I'll check back if you have a solution.

I use an exacto knife and gently cut the bubble off of the card. It leaves the card looking pretty nice. I open 99% of my stuff. If its a figure I really like, I get one to open and one to leave on card.

I have been a Joe collector since 97. I buy at least two of each figure/vehicle; at least one to open, and one to keep moc. I started doing this when ROC came out. Before then, I would open the figs for the most part.

Wish I had the funds and/or space to buy one to open and one to leave in package, would make things a bit easier lol. Starting to think I'll use a fresh Xacto knife blade and trim the bubble down as close as possible, not a perfect solution but less chance of ruining the card. Still open to ideas, anybody try steam from an iron or tea kettle?
