You never brag about "getting" something. You brag about what you "got". He didn't have it in hand, and he had no agreement with the owner, so it was up for grabs.
You just have to hope that he doesn't read this now. If you feel the slightest bit guilty, tell him you know someone that will sell him their's for $175, then sell yours to him. It will be a lesson to him. |

My first thought would be for you to offer it to him, but the more I think about it, he made a decision that he wanted the movie figures more.

I would have asked him----I would have said "If you aren't going to buy it then I will. I think that's a great price."
The way you went about it was shady. |

Okay i need the tanks help. I have friend that told me that he found a Sideshow Storm Shadow in a local shop for ($150.00 yes can you believe it) and that he was going to buy it but decided not to because he picked up the Retaliation Joe's and that he was going to go and pick it soon but didn't say exactly when.
So here's where i need my fellow tankers. so while i was out with the wife today i went by the shop and saw the figure still there and i bought it. So would you have bought it or left it for him to buy? Be straight and upfront and let him know you would love to keep it as well...

There's a huge difference between you buying it and some other random, unknown person.
If this has to be explained as to WHY it's different, then I feel bad for you guys. |

If the situation had been that the guy was running to the bank to grab the money and the OP went and bought it in the meantime, yes that's pretty shitty. But in this case, the open ended, I'm gonna buy it one day scenario. I think the OP is justified in his decision. |

I think a courtesy call would have been appropriate.
