Mark Bellomo is a member on this site. His screen name is MWB. He posted on a thread earlier this year that he was working on the second edition of the book.
I'm guessing that the link you've posted from Amazon.com is it. He said the release date was June 22nd 2009. Here are the links to the threads about it... http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ence-book.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...k-bellomo.html

Just turned in the text for the new book TODAY. Lots of new filecard information. And EVERY vehicle has been re-shot by a professional photog.
Here's a sample of a new entry from Series One, 1982: Scarlett Counter Intelligence (straight-armed) (Includes: XK-1 Power Crossbow) Scarlett was the first (and only) female member of the 1982 G.I. Joe team, and it appears that she was given a code name late in the biographical process; her prototype file card lists her MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) simply as “Girl.” Casual fans are often confused by her divided romantic interests, for she maintained a relationship with Snake Eyes in comic book lore, and was amorous with Duke in the Sunbow cartoon series. These relationships notwithstanding, Larry Hama’s file card (both mass produced and prototype) intended her to be a serious soldier and lethal warrior. As her 1982 file card states: “…it’s remarkable that a person so deadly can still retain a sense of humor.” A brief anecdote from Grunt (1982)--who provided the Peer Personality Profile on her prototype file card--should drive this point home: “…I gotta admit that I was [as] leery as the other guys about having a woman on the team… ‘specially one as foxy as her, but after her first mission with us everything was just copacetic. Fifteen feet above the LZ [Landing Zone] she was out the Huey [nickname for the Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter] on the jump and off the skid WHAM into the bush pumping cover fire at the bad guys before the team leader hit the tiger grass [a tropical plant with broad, bamboo-like leaves possessing thick stems]. She made her bones [idiom: “earned her way”] the first time out. Confirmed.” Scarlett’s MOS is a complicated one, and we must refer to the definition of the term counter-intelligence to fully understand her complex occupation. Counterintelligence is described by the Department of Defense as “information gathered and activities conducted to protect against espionage, other intelligence activities, sabotage, or assassinations conducted by or on behalf of foreign governments or elements thereof, foreign organizations, or foreign persons, or international terrorist activities.” Apart from her considerable intellectual abilities, Scarlett’s martial prowess extends to a myriad of weapons specialties: the M-14, M-16, M-1911A1, M-79, M-3A1 (the modified “grease gun”), M-700 (Remington rifle), MAC-10 (the compact “Military Armament Corporation’s Model 10”), the XK-1 Power Crossbow, throwing stars, Ka-Bar knives (a 12” Bowie-type knife with 7” clip-point blade), and a garotte (an instrument of execution for execution by strangulation). When asked about Scarlett’s proficiency with the garotte, Larry Hama stated: “I didn’t see why a female Joe shouldn’t be just as competent and deadly as the males. Improvised garottes became part of the Ranger and Commando training during WWII as a means of silent sentry neutralization. I didn’t tone her deadliness down in the comic at all…” NOTE: Scarlett’s feet have no “holes” in the bottom of them, so she cannot be posed on battle stands or Joe vehicles with pegs. MOC: $310-400 (depending on card condition), MLC: $18-25 Larry H. provided me with a bunch of quotes and solid info for this new guide... -- MWB |

^ the Amazon link above says around $18. I'll be getting this for sure too.
I need to buy Bellomo's Transformers book too, even though I don't really collect them. He's a damned good writer, and I appreciate his depth of knowledge. I can't wait to read his 25th Ann./Modern book in 8 eight years. I would be interested to know his general opinion of the new figures. My guess (based on reading V1 of this book) is that he'd really like them. |

I'm looking forward to it. A couple copies of the last one were passed around at the JOHIO Medina meet for those that had never seen it before and folks were quite impressed.
