Skystriker and Armadillo look great Zulu. Armadillo is perhaps the ugliest Joe ever. I see how you're switching the drivers to rifle squad members, well I see Armadillo and Steam Roller, this way making them have Dual rolls in a way.

Here's my ideal team. It's loosely set up like an ODA:
Hawk-CO Doc-Combat surgeon Lady Jaye-Intel Scarlett-Counter Intel Wild Bill-Pilot 2 Teams of 14 each that can split in half if needed Team 1: CO=Falcon XO=Flint Weapons=Roadblock, Rock 'n' Roll Engineering=Tunnel Rat, Torpedo Medical=Lifeline, Stretcher Communications= Breaker, Dial tone Intel Sgt.=Stalker Operations Sgt=Duke Misc./Transport=Crankcase Team#2: CO=Claymore XO=Beach Head Weps=Shockwave, Barrel Roll Eng=Zap, Rip Cord Med=Airborne 2, Med Alert Commo=Mianframe, Airwave Intel=Spirit Ops=Gung Ho Misc/Transport=Clutch Mission Specialists: Snake Eyes=Commando, solo infiltration Snow Job=Arctic Warfare Dusty=Desert Warfare Airtight=CBRN warfare Recondo=Jungle Warfare There are a few others I would like to incorporate, but this is my take on a "real world" team. I have to give credit to Tom Clancy's "Special Forces" book, which was my guide to organizing the teams. |

This was the last of the lists I made before I saw zulu's project. Some things worth noting: I didn't use anyone past 87, and the teams are split by the year (although I had to switch Dusty and Roadblock to make the numbers work). I don't use Duke (I kind of combined him into Hawk).
Headquarters Commander: Flagg Intel Chief: Scarlett Intel Support (the Hive): Psyche Out, Lady Jaye, Chuckles, Jinx, Mainframe, Cover Girl Alpha Squad HALO Qualified (82-84) Team Leader: Hawk Team One: Torpedo, Gung Ho, Dusty, Airborne Team Two: Stalker, Ripcord, Breaker, Rock n Roll Sniper Team: Spirit, Recondo Helicopter Crew: Wild Bill, Doc Bravo Squad Diver Qualified (85-87) Team Leader: Claymore Team Three: Flint, Leatherneck, Wetsuit, Shipwreck Team Four: Beach Head, Tunnel Rat, Dial Tone, Roadblock Sniper Team: Low Light, Outback Helicopter Crew: Lift Ticket, Lifeline Ω Option (Last resort option only known to Flagg) Snake Eyes |

Nice lists guys. I use to love doing something like this when I use to play with my figures. Since I had enough it was like OK you can only pick 40. which would turn into 60 or 80 by the time I was done. Usually I wanted to include Shockwave and then I would add an entire Urban element and then set up a desert team since i liked Repeater and Dusty so much.
I need to make my list. Did you change the ranks on some of your guys Master Thespian, Lifeline71? You both have Beachhead pretty high. I use Beachhead as a Sgt Maj myself, but I was just curious what other do? Beachhead from the comics seemed to High ranking to be just a Staff Sgt. DDP had him as a Sgt Major which I liked. He was one of my favorite characters from the DDP/Image line. But Beachhead has only made it to E-7 on filecards. So has LadyJaye, but not Scarlett. I like the Hive idea. |

From a "storytelling" standpoint though, say, if I wanted to write an actual GI Joe story, I'd like to use a a stripped down Joe team, maybe 40 or less personnel, composed mostly of Rangers, SEALs, and Marines with the occasional SF operator. It would be a component of the original Rapid Deployment Force (as it was envisioned by Jimmy Carter in 1979, and not the watered-down organization that became CENTCOM in the early 1980s). Their adventures would be Cold War period stories set in the early-to-mid 1980s. As much as I enjoy updating my favourite Joes for contemporary times, I think the core of certain characters (particularly Duke, Stalker, Snake-Eyes, Storm-Shadow, Spirit, etc.), visually and thematically are intrinsically tied to the Vietnam War and the public's perception of the military in the decade and a half post-Vietnam. The thing that I like about period stories (if I'm working on them, that is) is that the extra-literary context is already set, and it simply becomes a matter of "inserting" fictional elements within a fixed historical, moral, ethical, and political backdrop. Some new images/filecards: Sparks & Shooter Design notes: - The design for Shooter (the "original 14th") was partially based on her appearance in GI Joe Declassified. EDIT: Sparks' filecard updated to reflect the actual released version of Shooter) - EDIT: Sparks' filecard updated to reflect the actual released version of Sparks) Also updated Flint's composite image, position of the lower legs and the contrast on the shirt in the original image were bothering me something fierce: As always, the full filecards can be viewed by clicking on the link in my signature. Love Sparks and Shooter. More Marines are always good. Although have you ever seen the Sparks figure and his filecard?

Nice work on those images, zulu (I like the Alicia Keys head). Glad you fixed Flint's feet up. Shooter got a filecard too, z. http://i39.tinypic.com/112dbfp.jpg
I'm glad you like "the Hive" thing, Cannon. As for ranks, I kind of just wing it, lol. I decided to post my updated team (no rank denotes E6). It's obviously not a functional team in the way zulu's is, but if I didn't pare it down some, I'd go broke trying to recreate it. Headquarters: Commander: Flagg (O-6) XO: Keel Haul (O-5) Intel Chief: Scarlett (O-3) Intel Support (the Hive): Psyche Out (O-2), Lady Jaye (W-2), Chuckles (W-2), Mainframe (E-8), Jinx, Cover Girl, Scoop Specialized Support: Airtight, Tripwire Alpha Squad: Commander: Hawk (O-4) XO: Torpedo (LDO-3) NCO: Stalker (E-9) Commo: Breaker FO: Airborne Team One: Duke (E-8), Dusty, Footloose, Quick Kick Team Two: Gung Ho (E-7), Deep Six, Crankcase, Clutch Team Three: Recondo(E-7), Grunt, Steeler, Ripcord Weapons Team: Rock n Roll, Zap Sniper Team: Spirit (E-7), Snow Job Bravo Squad: Commander: Claymore (O-4) XO: Flint (W-3) NCO: Leatherneck (E-9) Commo: Dial Tone FO: Sneak Peek Team One: Beach Head(E-8), Tunnel Rat, Alpine, Crazy Legs Team Two: Shipwreck(E-7), Wetsuit, Shockwave, Barbecue Team Three: Frostbite(E-7), Cross Country, Heavy Metal, Fast Draw Weapons Team: Roadblock, Bazooka Sniper Team: Low Light(E-7), Outback Charlie Squad: Commander: Falcon (O-4) XO: Grid Iron (O-3) NCO: Blizzard (E-9) Commo: Dee Jay FO: Spearhead Team One: Hit n Run(E-8), Muskrat, Hardball, Pathfinder Team Two: Topside(E-7), Rampart, Freefall, Wildcard Team Three: Budo(E-7), Backblast, Ambush, Armadillo Weapons Team: Repeater, Salvo Sniper Team: Long Range(E-7), Bullhorn Mission Support: Helicopter Crew One: Wild Bill (W-3), Doc (O-3) Helicopter Crew Two: Lift Ticket (W-2), Lifeline Helicopter Crew Three: Updraft (W-2), Stretcher Ω Option (Last resort option only known to Flagg and Keel Haul) Snake Eyes (Former E-7) Last edited by Master Thespian; 06-22-2009 at 01:59 PM.. |

I was thinking the other day about which Joes must have been Boy Scouts. (The largest paramilitary organization in the world)Only Footloose comes to mind. But I feel like so many of them must have been Boy Scouts. So two questions.
1. How many military men were once Boy Scouts? 2. How many of you were Boy Scouts? Congratulations on making it to 700 pages, guys. I'm in the middle of moving so things have been pretty hectic for me. I hope everyone is doing well.

I just get really annoyed when I see those filecards written by someone with no knowledge of military MOS restrictions, though. Females aren't allowed in the infantry, no waivers, no exceptions. You'd think they'd do a better job of researching since, you know, they're getting paid to write that stuff. |
