It was kind of hard to see against the gray of the pavement... I ended up downloading the pic and upping the contrast in Photoshop to see it (always a problem with Sketch-Up screen caps prior to applying the lighting sources). What model of assault bridge vehicle is that?

Are you referring to the Bridgelayer? I picked up on it quick, just haven't had time to respond. Also, I think the person responsible for some of the comic blueprints was Eliot Brown.

I'm glad you put the Bride layer in the picture. I use it as part of my combat engineer unit. Ever since we've discussed Toll Booth's education, I've given him a much more prominent role in my Joeverse.

He did the PIT layout in issue #22 and all of the vehicles in the Order of Battle issue (although those were a rush job, and he's not particularly happy with how they came out).

I was pretty sure it was Eliot Brown, just wasn't sure how much he had done. So Brown Hall is the name, lol.
Not sure what model it's supposed to be Zulu, was just doing a search thru Sketch-Up's 3D Warehouse (which is where I get all the vehicles, which is why some are more "finished" and detailed then others) and saw it and got excited. The Bridgelayer was always a personal favorite of mine. I loved the thing. I always thought I was a tad cooler then my other Joe-collecting friends because I got this special vehicle that wasn't available in stores but only thru Sears. Tollbooth is awesome. I loved the figure, even the sledge hammer, and loved the vehicle. He's going to get a promotion and is in charge of the Engineer unit. Is Combat Engineer the correct term for the bridge, road and fortification builders? I know there was some discussion about CE and EOD and all that.

He's another comic book creator I've been in touch with over the years. Nice guy, and he likes to share his info on how he made the decisions he did. They gave him pretty free rein in the redesign of the PIT, so he threw in stuff (like the ICBM silo) baserd on his research and what he thought might make for good story hooks.

Yeah - the Punisher Armory issues (loved those), the original Iron Manual, most of the tech stuff for the handbooks, and lots of other stuff. He did similar work for DC, as well, and some other publishers. It was always a treat to see his stuff.

I wonder how much input Hama had in the design, if any? Did they just leave it entirely up to Brown, or did Hama give some parameters? Given the level of disorganization Mr. Hama had in writing the storyline and developing the characters, I wouldn't imagine he would have been the best architectural consultant.
The Bridge Layer is awesome. I use it as part of a Combat Engineer unit. I include the Bulldozer and Dump Truck that Tonka made for the Joes some years back. The Retaliator helicopter is also part of the unit. The Mauler is also part of this unit because they may need some firepower... they are COMBAT Engineers, after all. Generally, I have them move with my Joe Armor Column. If there's a ditch/ravine that the rest of the tanks need to cross, or an obstacle in the way - Send in the engineers!
