10,000 posts is pretty amazing. It's certainly one of the longest running threads on the forum, and I think it's absolutely the most informative. Also, I think it's one of the most drama-free... not to mention, the quality of Tankers that post on this thread. I think it's the cream of the crop.

Its funny that in the middle of what seems like extreme views on the Tank we can all come here and do what we all intended to do when we joined..... make friends and talk about GI JOE without taking ourselves way to serious! Well I have a dinner date - you all enjoy breaking into that 10,000 post without me. Congrats to all for making this a great thread!

You know I think Oliver may be on to something about Roadblock being a Green Beret as well. Makes you wonder when they met Flint. It would be awesome if Hama could go back and fill in some of the gaps like what some of the Joes, besides the original 13, were doing before they got picked up on the Joe team. It would be a great way to showcase random fanboy characters. But that will never happen. Although the Origins series now is exactly that.
If I were making an educated guess, I would have to guess that Duke, Flint, and Roadblock worked together in Special Forces prior to joining the Joes. Duke was probably the older, more experienced Team Sergeant. Roadblock probably came into the Groups as a Corporal, and Flint wasn't much higher - then Flint went to Warrant Officer school. I think they all worked together as Green Berets.

Thanks for doing your part to make this a great thread. And you're right, it's great that we can come here and really do what this forum was intended to do. Smart fans talking about in depth Joe issues. Have a good date, buddy.

The way I've got it figured, Roadblock just about has to be Special Forces. Duke goes SF while he's in Vietnam. He's certainly Ranger qualified, but it seems that most of his combat experience come from the Green Berets. It was Duke who recruited Flint to the Joe Team. They obviously knew each other and respected one another. Flint is Ranger qualified, but he's a Special Forces Warrant Officer. He probably knows Duke from the Groups, not the Regiment. Roadblock knows them both, and from several comments he makes at various places in the comic, Roadblock has worked with both of them extensively. So even if he knows Duke from working with him at Ranger School, he must know Flint from the Groups as well.

We haven't seen much in the way of backgrounds for the new Origins characters. although we know Snake-Eyes was a Ranger. Roadblock in HD just comes along but he hasn't been in much since his first appearance. I'm interested to see what Larry does with him. He hasn't appeared at all in the main title. I'm thinking they are trying to work somethin to get the Codename changed back to Roadblock. |

Oh, I hope so. Roadblock is the only Mississippian - it just makes me a little sad that he's been changed for no good reason. I hope the IDW main title will find a way to make him "Roadblock".

Roadblock/HD and Breaker haven't shown up in the main title. Rock n Roll has made a couple of appearances.
I'm liking what IDW is doing. Love the comments the Baroness makes to Destro in #10. About how if the experiment is a failure he'll be killed but she'll be just embarassed and how Cobra is playing a long game. Makes them seem much more deadly. LIke if the Joes take out one operation, there are hundreds more ready to go and ongoing.

Yeah I wonder if there is a single Cobra Commander at all or a group of guys. It's hard for just one individual to have the time to play the long game. They make it sound like Generations not just a 100 year lease on a port by China.
