Working on my Action Force roster. Here's what I have in terms of organization... I loosely based it on the personnel make-up of an SAS Squadron. My version of Action Force is a small counterterrorist squadron composed of members drawn from special operations-capable military & police units from EU, OAS, NATO, ASEAN & SCO member nations and affiliates, working under the direction of the UN Security Council. It's a descendant (one could say a remnant) of the joint UN Offensive Force (composed of American, British, and South Korean personnel) of the Korean War, but keyed towards surgical, multilateral anti-terrorist actions in support of peacekeeping operations.
Here's the working roster, with descriptions of where I adapted the characters from: Action Force roster list v1.01 Headquarters Commanding Officer: Charles “Eagle” Buckingham (UK) (Palitoy UK Action Civil Affairs Specialist/Linguist Communication Systems Operator/Linguist Communication Systems Operator/Linguist Summary of codename/filename changes: - Whenever possible, I translated their codenames to the characters' presumed native language spelled in standard romanized fashion. For example, I changed "Red Star" (English) to "Chervona Zirka" (Ukrainian) and the ridiculous "Beaver" to a more masculine sounding "Castor" (Standard French/Canadian French). - In certain cases where I felt that the codenames/file names were inappropriate or "wrong" in any sense, or in cases where I couldn't find a suitable translation, I used artistic licence to make changes. Here's a list of the names that I changed and/or the names that I made up: "Blast Off" --> "Tagger" ("Blast Off" sounded corny) "Breaker" --> "Mando" ("Broadcast" in Italian) "Skymate" --> "Skyhook" (I was going to use the original codename, but then I recalled that one of the Australian 'tankers on here found the codename "Skymate" ridiculously stereotypical to the point of being borderline offensive, so I decided to change it for my version of Action Force) "Moondancer" --> "Hilāl" ("New Moon" in Arabic... a more masculine sounding name) "Dolphin" --> "Orca" (more masculine sounding) "Scout" --> "Jäger" ("Huntsman" in German, much more macho and masculine sounding) "Kiwi" --> "Tāwhaki" (Native New Zealander/Maori term for a mythological demigod/half-demon) "Surfer" --> "Mushburger" (Surfer slang for a weak wave) "Steeler" --> "Aegis" (The name of Athena's shield in Greek mythology; synonymous with protection/defense) "Stalker" --> "Veiðinn" (Old Norse for "master hunter/trapper") "Dragonsky" --> "Drakon" (Russian for "dragon") "Quarrel" --> "Armbrust" (German for "crossbow") I also used translated versions of the codenames of the unreleased "F Troop" Action Force toys. "Lightning" --> "Kidlat" (Tagalog) "Sniper" --> "Tirador" (Spanish) "Fixer" --> "Fijador" (Spanish) Last edited by zuludelta; 08-05-2009 at 08:29 PM.. |

And speaking of Cobra, here's my updated Cobra Executives roster: CE-6 Rex Lewis (Chairman & Chief Global Strategist) CE-6 Philip Alexander Rey (President & Chief Executive Officer) CE-5 Vaughn “Iron Claw” Raney (Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer) CE-5 James McCullen Destro (Chief Procurement Officer & Director of the Munitions/Armaments Research Systems Division) CE-4 Anastasia Cisarovna (Chief Information Officer) CE-4 Tomax Rogue (Chief Financial Officer & co-Director of the CMO Consulting Division) CE-4 Xamot Rogue (Chief Legal Officer & co-Director of the CMO Consulting Division) CE-4 Garrison “Blitz” Krieger (Director, Military Operations Division) CE-4 Brian “Mindbender” Binder (Chief Technology Officer & Director of Special Projects) CE-3 Fred Broca (Chief Information Security Officer) CE-3 Damon “Raptor” Armstrong (Chief Accounting Officer) CE-3 Andrew “Scalpel” Walker (Chief Medical Officer) CE-3 Scott “Crystal Ball” Stevens (Behavioral Sciences Consultant) CE-3 Timothy “Scrap-Iron” Janes (Lead Engineer, Munitions/Armaments Research Systems Division) CE-3 Stuart “Metalhead” Finley (Lead Tactical Officer, MIlitary Operations Division) CE-3 Robert “Big Boa” Cobretti (Lead Training Officer, MIlitary Operations Division) CE-3 Edward “Copperhead” Johnson (Littoral Operations Officer, Military Operations Division) CE-3 Thomas “Blackout” Stall (Target Interdiction Instructor, Military Operations Division) CE-3 Kenneth “Wild Weasel” Leggitt (Fixed-wing pilot & Military Operations Division Aerial Warfare Consultant) I won't be listing the contractors (Storm-Shadow, Bludd, etc. since I already posted them in this thread in a prior post) Since I already incorporated GI Joe Extreme and Sgt. Savage characters in my updated Joe roster, I figure I should also include their respective villains in this updated Cobra roster. So I included Iron Klaw (Count Von Rani) -- renamed as Vaughn Raney -- and General Blitz in the Cobra hierarchy. Last edited by zuludelta; 08-05-2009 at 08:30 PM.. |

1.My Pit redesign suggestion was one of those sudden brainstorms
that seemed like a good idea at the time. 2.The G.I.Joe R.O.C.C vehicle, that came out awhile back,is it a downsize-more moveable version of the Mobile Command Center? The G.I.Joe R.H.I.N.O. vehicle, that came out awhile back,is it a downsize-more moveable version of the General? The General needed at least a squad of Greenshirts to defend it. And one good shot could put it out of action. I was wondering if the Brawler version 1 was a replacement for the Rolling Thunder? 3.There have been a lot of different versions of Flint, with most of them listing him as a Warrant Officer, with a pay grade of WO2 and WO3. In 1985,2007 and 2008,even though he is listed as a Warrant Officer, his pay grade is a E-6. In 1994 and in one other year,he is listed as a Desert Paratrooper |

Did a couple of new set-ups. In the "fanart" thread. Check 'em out.
This is my revised "origin" of Cobra and Serpentor (who the RoC Neo-Vipers are the troopers for). Came about today in the "Scientist of Cobra La or Brother of Baroness" thread. I like the idea of a secret society that has been playing around throughout history creating Cobra to serve their ends but CC kind of put a monkeywrench in their plans. So here it is, now it needs tweaking, I made it up off the top of my head in like 9 minutes today at work. "Will be a Society that has existing thru the years, called Cobra, and works behind the scenes. When they got to this day and age, the militia/terrorist organization made alot of sense to use. So they found the person to use as the figurehead, Cobra Commander. (this groups included the founders of the USA, hee..) CC was a used car saleman that disgruntled with everything started this pyramid scheme, it caught Cobra's attention and they "recruited" him to serve as the "public" figure head. He's charismatic, motivated, everything they needed. They also put him in touch with like minded people thru their network of contacts (Zartan, Firefly, Baroness, Destro). MARS has been a "front" for these guys for years, the McCullen Clan long standing members. So it went for years, using Cobra Commander to run the organization they started acheiving their goals, but then CC got a little too power hungry, he forgot about the people behind the curtains. He also wasn't as successful as they had hoped. So the organization looked at something else, they gave Mindbender the idea for Serpentor. If they couldn't recruit the ultimate leader, they'd make one. Serpentor is everything they wanted. Except they couldn't oust CC. He was too ingrained and too good. They had hoped he'd be a simple figurehead, but no, they forgot why they had recruited him in the first place: his motivation, his charisma, his drive, etc.. So a civil war happened, the Society backed Serpentor versus the now "on his own" Cobra Commander. This is why Destro went "solo". He didn't agree with either CC or Serpentor or the Society anymore. So eventually, Serpentor and the Society split. They had lost the name Cobra, so adopted the name of the Coils. And that's where things stand now."

It already looks like a floating RV. I don't have either the ROCC, Rhino, General or MCC :( But those theories work. Yeah, I don't think Hasbro really knew a thing about Warrant Officers and how they stood in the hierarchy of the rankings.

It's funny, I had the same 'secret society' idea. Probably because I just watched The Skulls on late night TV...lol. I wanted to explain the Siegies in my joeverse and account on why they're so loyal and dedicated to CC.
In my joeverse, after leaving his suburban high school life behind, he went to an Ivy League college on full scholarship. After pledging to a fraternity, he got tapped to join the 'Shadows and Snakes' secret society. Akin to the Skull and Bones. A fairly average non-descript member, he never really utilized his membership until much later. After his life turns to hell, veteran brother dies in horrible car crash, embezzling problem gambler father killed by his abused wife etc etc..(full story a few pages back), anyway, After he takes over Baron Iron blood / The Commander's guise, he turns the First Strike militia into the first Cobra troopers. At the same time, he goes to his first society meeting in years and blackmails the other members into electing him Chairman of the secret society. His co-conspirators are power hungry junior members who become his left (secretary Tomax) and right (treasurer Xamot) hands. The society's council becomes the Crimson Guard Immortals, the other society members become the Crimson Shadow Guard and he actively starts recruiting his frat buddies (and later the sister sororities) into the first iteration of the Crimson Guard. That's how I use my Guardsman, anyway. |

That's a nice idea Tyroc.
I'm liking the secret society angle, I was thinking a little more about it and I'm going to have some original members, and long standing members, be the McCullens and DeCobrays. I'm not sure if I want to work the Ariashakage into it, but I think I'll leave it that the Night Creepers worked for the Society. So then I can have the Night Creepers be Serpentor's ninja clan. Or would the new Red Fang Ninja work better? I like giving Joe more then just Cobra to deal with. Have Cobra, the Coils and the Iron Grenadiers.
