1.Troynos,when I was browsing the first 680 pages of the thread,
I saw your G.I.Joe Base plan drawings. I thought the first could have been a multipurpose Air Force/Air National Guard Base. With your second being in the mountains,it will be interesting to see where you are going to put your fuel depot. Depending on how big your base is going to be,you will have one interesting water treatment/recycling plant. 2.In the G.I.Joe Battle Files,Issue #1 has the Chain of Command and Rank Organization. Snake Eyes and Scarlett are Master Sergeants as well as Sgt. Savage. Lady Jaye is Sergeant First Class along with Rock`N`Roll,Snow Job,Spirit and Zap. D-Day and Dynamite(from the Screaming Eagles line)are Sergeants. It is nice to see Scarlett,Snake Eyes and Lady Jaye getting promoted to Warrant Officer by Zulu. |

BCross, yep, I know it can be done cause there's actually lots of bases within mountains. Norad is one and the Swiss have done it as well.
And honestly, I hadn't even thought about the water treatment/recycling plant. Going to need a boiler room and generator as well. Fuel is something I'm still working on as well. I'm thinking it's going to be outside and piped into the base.

Troynos, here is an interesting idea for your G.I.Joe fleet. You could redesign the new G.I.Joe Pit Mobile Headquarters to look like one of your support ships or a Landing Assault Craft. Of course it would be an expensive custom vehicle to make if something was to go wrong.

Have you seen the JHSV?
JHSV Program It's my new all-purpose Joe ship. Aircraft carrier is too big. These things can also get pretty close to shore.

Wow I had no idea when I mentioned Steel Brigade and Supertroopers what you guys would cook up. I kind of see these guys leading teams of Steel Brigade troops. I don't really see the Super Troopers and Rapid Fire as a single James Bond on the Battle field. Too much like Sgt Slaughter in the Cartoons. But since they are all officers they should lead a platoon or team into a hairy Situation.
Imagine if at they Battle of Mogadishu there was a team of 20 Steel Brigaders under Rapid Fire to come bail you out instead of just 2? (I know they weren't sending in any more Blackhawks so this would never happen and the team sent in to retrieve everyone got a little lost and shot up.) Still that would have been the time to come send them in. You figure Super Trooper, Rapid-Fire, and the Steel Brigade Commander would all be similarly trained. Maybe Sigma 6 Lt. Stone, and Action Man might round out the officer core of this SB/ST/HRT/SWAT/CQB team? I would tend to leave the SWAT guys out but there seems to be such a natural tendancy to lump them together due to the Urban look, but then what makes Shockwave so great? Given the obvious similarities between Super Trooper's file card and Rapid Fire's file card, I think it's safe to say they went through very similar training - probably the same school, with a slightly different emphasis. For example, it's like they're both Infantry Officers, but one might specialize in light Infantry, and the other might be a Mech Infantry Officer. I hope I'm being clear. That being said, with three Officers that have gone through this same specialized training, and the details of the training shown in the comic, I think we should reconsider the Super Troopers. To my mind they're a lot like Claymore. They were not a lot of editions of Super Trooper or Rapid Fire... although, Rapid Fire did have a 12" figure. I'm not saying Claymore is a Super Trooper - there's NO evidence of that. What I am saying is that just like Claymore's file card is one of the most impressive on the team - and he's an officer - I think Super Trooper and Rapid Fire are supposed to be like that: Awesome. But I agree, in a realistic Joeverse, the example of the Sgt. Slaughter of the cartoon show can't exist. There shouldn't be a "James Bond of the Battlefield". I agree with you completely about that. So we have three Super Troopers Lt. Lattimer - U.S. Army, West Point Grad, Infantry, Public Relations, Airborne Ranger, and probably Special Forces/Delta Capt. London - U.S. Army, West Point Grad, Infantry, EOD, Airborne Ranger, Urban Warfare, and probably Special Forces/Delta Captain De Niro - British Army, Infantry, Intelligence, Airborne (Parachute Regiment), SAS. And I suppose I'm trying to figure out how to use them and how they fit, but I think they're all a lot better than we may have previously thought. And despite the crazy costumes, we should take them seriously - custom figures can change costumes into uniforms rather easily. I'm interested to know why you thought the Steel Brigade Commander would have the same training? You may know something I don't. I wouldn't have thought of that, but I'm going to check into it. My Steel Brigade is an Urban Assault Unit. They are my Special Operations Unit for City Warfare, just like Tiger Force is for the Jungle - but not quite at the same level as the "Named" Joes. I see Steel Brigade this way: If regular Green Shirts are like the Joe Team's plain Infantry, Steel Brigade is roughly like the Airborne Rangers of the Green Shirts. That's just my opinion based on the Convention File cards. Regular Steel Brigade would be about as tough as Marines - still a little tougher than plain Green Shirts. As far as Lt. Stone and Action Man, I treat them as Intelligence Operatives with a very different mission than the Super Troopers. I hadn't thought of that comparison. Do you see them as similar? About Shockwave, I don't think the Convention SWAT unit should be automatically linked to Steel Brigade. I think the mission of the two units is obviously related and oriented towards urban combat, but I see them as very different. I see that Steel Brigade is responsible for operating in an entire city. I see the SWAT team as conducting specific operations and hitting specific targets within that city while Steel Brigade is doing their thing. Shockwave, himself, should not be overlooked, in my opinion. First, he was always one of the coolest figures Hasbro ever came out with - he was certainly the first Joe with a real CQB type of uniform who was a specialist in CQB operations. Second, Shockwave has been in Night Force and the DEF - and that says he's got a lot of Special Ops/Police experience - He's also an E-7, which is pretty important position of leadership as an NCO (Platoon Sgt.) I don't know if he should have been the commander of the SWAT Team, but I don't think he's a slouch either. I mean, if I were creating a Joe SWAT Team, I would put Shockwave on it. Wouldn't you?

As far as the connection of the Super Troopers with the Steel Brigade, I guess I would go with Rapid Fire. I'm mainly thinking of his 12' figure/file card which was certainly geared toward urban warfare. I would think Rapid Fire could work very well with Steel Brigade in an Urban Combat situation... but that's because I use Steel Brigade as an Urban Unit.
As for the other two Super Trooper Characters, one might work with Joes in the Desert (like the DPS, for example), while the other might specialize in Woodland or Cold weather operations. Just a theory. A different Super Trooper for different types of missions...

You could certainly have super trooper in a underwater or sea setting as well as being able to assault ships and or a space setting with his ability to train and prepare for operations that could garner his talents knowledge to face the threats posed by Cobra! I know that he has received a bad rep before in the past but he is not taken seriously due to his name sake usually. He has been thumped over the head unfairly!

Hey Tall Creeper, How have you been? It's nice to see you. It's been a while.
I see what you're saying about aquatic operations. I guess I hadn't thought of that because all three Super Trooper characters have Army backgrounds, but you make a good point.

Getting late so I'll give some more thoughts later.
Oliver, take a look couple pages back at my organizational chart. It's the Super Trooper name that gets me. Rapid Fire I like, Super Trooper. no.. Need to come up with some new names for them.
