Working out the details of the Cobra organization. Here's what I have so far:
------------------------------------------ Start COBRA Organization Profile ------------------------------------------ Cobra Consolidated is a private military consulting firm founded in New York City, initially existing as a private security agency but quickly expanding into private military contracting and weapons research & development. The particular details of the company's origin are unclear, as well as the specifics of how they managed to quickly gain a foothold in the military consulting business. Corporate headquarters are located in downtown Manhattan. Current industry estimates place the total value of Cobra Consolidated's current contracts at just under $100 million. The company has consulting, training & procurement contracts with state-owned and privately-owned military and law enforcement agencies in the United States, the People's Republic of China, the United Kingdom, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Switzerland, Sudan, the Russian Federation, South Africa, Myanmar, Turkey, India, Pakistan, France, Italy, and Sri Lanka. Cobra Consolidated, Inc. Is composed of three divisions: - MARS (Munitiions & Armaments Research Systems): involved in original & acquired weapons research, development, and sales - Executive Enterprises: a civil-military operations (CMO) consulting firm, provides specialized legal, financial & public relations services to client military, law enforcement & security organizations - Arbco Industries: military operations division, providing highly-qualified professional military operators for a variety of functions including, but not limited to: executive protective services, advising client governments & organizations in armed forces training, and sensitive site security List 1.1 COBRA corporate rank structure (in decreasing order of seniority): Senior Executive Pay Grades CE-6 CE-5 CE-4 Executive Pay Grades CE-3 CE-2 CE-1 Senior Management Pay Grades CM-6 CM-5 CM-4 Management Pay Grades CM-3 CM-2 CM-1 Standard Employee Pay Grades CS-3 CS-2 CS-1 List 1.2 COBRA Executives: CE-6 Alexander Phillips (President & Chief Executive Officer) CE-5 Fred Broca (Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer) CE-5 James McCullen Destro (Chief Procurement Officer & Director of the Munitions/Armaments Research Systems Division) CE-5 Vincent “Cesspool” D'Alleva (Chief Information Officer) CE-4 Anastasia Cisarovna (Chief Information Security Officer) CE-4 Tomax Rogue (Chief Financial Officer & co-Director of the CMO Consulting Division) CE-4 Xamot Rogue (Chief Legal Officer & co-Director of the CMO Consulting Division) CE-4 Vladimir “Mayhem” Mijaimovic (Director, Military Operations Division) CE-4 Brian “Mindbender” Binder (Chief Technology Officer & Director of Special Projects) CE-3 Damon “Raptor” Armstrong (Chief Accounting Officer) CE-3 Andrew “Scalpel” Walker (Chief Medical Officer) CE-3 Scott “Crystal Ball” Stevens (Behavioral Sciences Consultant) CE-3 Timothy “Scrap-Iron” Janes (Lead Engineer, Munitions/Armaments Research Systems Division) CE-3 Stuart “Metalhead” Finley (Lead Tactical Officer, MIlitary Operations Division) CE-3 Robert “Big Boa” Cobretti (Lead Training Officer, MIlitary Operations Division) CE-3 Edward “Copperhead” Johnson (Littoral Operations Officer, Military Operations Division) CE-3 Kenneth “Wild Weasel” Leggitt (Fixed-wing pilot & Military Operations Division Aerial Warfare Consultant) CM-4 to CE-2 Crimson Guards (senior managers & junior executives within the CMO Consulting Division) CM-4 to CE-2 Viper Officers (squad & platoon leaders within the Military Operations Division) CS-1 to CM-3 Vipers (riflemen, automatic riflemen, grenadiers, marksmen, frogmen, combat medics, and tactical communications operators within the Military Operations Division) List 1.2 COBRA-affiliated Independent Contractors: Sebastian Bludd (specialty: Special Operations consultant) Zartan (specialty: Human-source Intelligence-gathering/High-value Target Acquisition) Zarana (specialty: Human-source Intelligence-gathering) Zandar (specialty: Long Range Reconnaissance & Surveillance) Tomisaburo Arashikage (specialty: Executive Protective Services, Long Range Reconnaissance & Surveillance) Firefly (specialty: IED/EOD Operations consultant) Richard “Buzzer” Blinken-Smythe (specialty: Tactical Breaching Specialist, Behavioral Sciences Consultant) Thomas “Torch” Winken (specialty: Tactical Breaching Specialist, Vehicle Structures Remodeling Specialist) Harry “Ripper” Nod (specialty: Tactical Breaching Specialist, Rifleman) William “Monkeywrench” Winkie (specialty: Basic IED/EOD Operations specialist) Bruno “Thrasher” LaCrosse (specialty: Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic) Morgan “Zanzibar” Teach (specialty: Tactical Craft Coxswain) Donald “Road-Pig” DeLuca (specialty: Executive Protective Services) ------------------------------------------ End COBRA Organization Profile ------------------------------------------ notes: - Cobra Commander isn't listed on the company roster because he works behind the scenes, away from the public eye and as far as the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense are concerned, he's more of an urban myth built around the company's anonymous founder. Only the senior executives know of his existence and of those, only a select few have actually had any personal contact with him. - I tried to use characters' real names as much as possible. Since I'm writing the reference bible as if it were a government file, it would look pretty weird if there were a bunch of "unknowns" and "classifieds" working for a publicly known company. In cases where characters have no listed "real names" in any of their extant filecards, I adapted names from secondary sources or invented ones outright. Here's a list of those names and where I got them from: - Alexander Phillips (Serpentor): derived from the names of two of the sources of Serpentor's genetic material in the comics: Alexander the Great and Phillip II of Macedon - Vladimir Mijaimovic (General Mayhem): his name is listed as Vladimir Mayhemovski in the toy's filecard. Thought it sounded too goofy, and instead rewrote it as a real Slavic surname - Damon Armstrong (Raptor): based on the first name of the Toronto Raptors' basketball team's first ever draft pick (Damon Stoudamire) and the surname of their first expansion draft pick (BJ Armstrong) - Timothy Janes (Scrap-Iron): Scrap-Iron's false identity as a member of the Phoenix Guard in the DDP comics. Adapted it as his real name. - Edward Johnson (Copperhead): Copperhead's false identity as a member of the Phoenix Guard in the DDP comics. Adapted it as his real name. - Kenneth Leggitt (Wild Weasel): Wild Weasel's false identity as a member of the Phoenix Guard in the DDP comics. Adapted it as his real name. - Robert Cobretti (Big Boa): Since Big Boa is the only remnant of the aborted Rocky Balboa GI Joe figure, I decided to play up those links. His name is derived from two characters popularized by actor Sylvester Stallone -- Robert "Rocky" Balboa (from 1976's "Rocky") and Marion Cobretti (from the 1986 movie "Cobra") Will post images and filecard links for Destro, Baroness, Zartan, Zarana, and a number of other characters later tonight. I love that. That's a freaking riot.

Ha ha. Yeah, somehow "stolen car re-modeler" or "chop shop welder" doesn't sound like a legit job title

I might add him eventually. But he's not a priority given as he seems a bit redundant with Thrasher already on board.
Well, here are the first two Cobras and a related Joe: Destro, the Baroness & Chameleon Design notes: - I outfitted Destro and the Baroness in charcoal/black versions of the Cobra officer uniform I previewed earlier. Destro is wearing a Kalkriese style (ancient Roman) face mask and a helmet to cover the rest of his head - Both Baroness and Chameleon were based on images of Russian actress and recent Bond girl Olga Kurylenko (for those unfamiliar with the Chameleon character and toy (released in 2000), she's a Joe intelligence operative who received facial surgery so that she could pass for Baroness... a pretty neat excuse to release a re-paint). She's got classic Slavic/Eurasian features that I think make her perfect as an intelligence agent... depending on her hairstyle and hair colour, she can pass for a person of Caucasian, Asian, or Middle Eastern origins. To read their filecards, click on the Filecard Project link in my signature (I also updated the Zartan and Zarana filecards with new information adapted from the GI Joe vs. Cobra: The Essential Guide book). Bruno LaCrosse, huh? That wouldn't have anything to do with the lacrosse stick his original figure came with, now would it? overall, your Cobra organization looks good, Zulu. I like your little touches, like Destro as "The Specialist" and Baroness' aliases. Can't wait to see more.

I was wondering if somebody would notice the "Specialist" alias I threw in to Destro's filecard, as a nod to his first appearance. Good eye. |

Love the 3 updates. Look good. Not a big fan of the Destro mask though, I think being 2-piece makes it look odd. Noticed the flesh colored ear.
Baroness and Chameleon are great. Great job on Chameleon's features. She definately can pass for a native in a lot of different places.

Fixed and updated

EDIT: Updated Baroness' and Chameleon's filecards. Apparently, Baroness is from the Czech Republic (the Essential Guide mentions that she spent her early years in a Prague boarding school) Last edited by zuludelta; 07-31-2009 at 11:55 AM.. |
