I think Footloose is probably the hardest to make unique since he is the most plain regular guy of the team. His only distinguishing characteristic was his porn-stache. He is a great toy nonetheless. I like what you have, maybe the shortsleeves and a silver bracelet may make a difference. But as far as regular Army look goes he's totally authentic.
Took a bit more doing since I'd already flattened the original .PSD file, but I think it came out okay. And although I already liked the earlier version, I think this is much better in terms of resembling the original figure. The other thing I noticed, is that even though dressing him in modern ACU takes away from the similarity to the original toy (who was dressed in what looked like hybrid woodland/desert camo), the more muted hues of the ACU scheme make him look more reminiscent of the cartoon version (on a related note, any one ever think that the the way his "helmet leaves" were drawn in the cartoon made them look like pot leaves? Even if it was incidental, I think it's hilarious given his "stoner" characterization in the cartoons). Last edited by zuludelta; 06-25-2009 at 03:28 PM.. |

Now that I like. It's got a more relaxed look and feel which suits Footloose better.
I'll have to take a look at the cartoon again. I barely remember him from it.

Great update, z. I can take one look at him and know who he is now. Props to Loose Cannon for pointing out that silver bracelet as well.
He hung out with Dusty a lot. Which is another thing I like about how zulu groups the characters is that so long as the duty identifiers match up, he seems like he tries to get many of the characters with their cartoon/comic pairings (Beach Head/Tunnel Rat/Big Lob, Dusty/Footloose, Steeler/Zap/Short Fuse). Looking at Recoil's filecard made me wonder, where did his name come from?
He's an LRRP in the original card. What does "recoil" have to do with that? Recoil would have been better for a heavy weapons guy, so it works better for Zulu's retasking of him.

I always wondered too since he has a watch on the other hand. It looks like medical bracelets.

Oh, and just so there's no confusion, by tasking him as a squad grenadier, I'm not limiting him to being a weapons guy (the same way that Alpine being a grenadier or Footloose an automatic rifleman doesn't make them "heavy weapons" guys). It's more of a designation as to where his position is within the fireteam during maneuvers, but in all practicality, outside of their weapon assignments and specific position within the maneuver formation, riflemen, automatic rifleman, and grenadiers all perform the same basic roles of assault and contingent tactical reconnaissance. They're all riflemen first and foremost, it's just that grenadiers and automatic riflemen are assigned weapons that allow them to do area suppression. Quote:

It's his Medical Marijuana bracelet.

Yeah I think he needs a spliff in the free hand. Not that he needs it, but I remember the LAW rocket launcher he came with, which I thought made him more useful. Even though he was not a Ranger, he is JUMP qualified, and has desert training. He was also one of the only figures that had some sort of realistic Unit insiginia with his 4th Army Patch. The DTC version is not that bad either and he came with a M-4 with the M-203 Grenade Launcher, which was removable. YOJOE.COM | Footloose |
