Glad you guys like it. I'm something of a minor Zap fan, so it was bothering me the past few weeks that I couldn't come up with a better rendition of him.

Him being my only Puerto-Rican half brother on the Joes I'd say I'm slightly more than a Minor fan. Not my favorite Character, but I loved when he was remade over the years he moved up the ranks to be Sgt. Zap. I liked my Sonic Zap most of all. But Your rendition is a perfect look for him. Perfect! Perfect!

Working on the "greenshirts" today. Here are links to the WIP images of the greenshirt filecards:
Rifle Squad greenshirt Machine Gun Squad greenshirt MAAWS Section greenshirt Mortar Section greenshirt I'll probably dress them all in Multicam green. That way, they don't wear service-specific camouflage while still keeping the "green" in greenshirt. Also, I'll be using the same image for all 4 "kinds" of greenshirts. Too much work for a filler character otherwise |

I'll also be making "blue shirts" at some point... basically the non-combatant equivalent of the greenshirts. I'll just dress them in generic non-service specific blue coveralls, similar to what all four armed services issue to various crews and support personnel.

Good Stuff Zulu. I think I need to pick up one more Green Shirt set from TRU. There's been two left for like 4 months. I plan on army building some of the Zartans from the ROC wave, but the TRU green shirts aren't too bad for Cannon Fodder.

The filecards for the 4 different types of greenshirts are now in the Filecard Project album (I've labeled them as "GI Joe Combat Operatives," each assigned to a different type of direct action squad or section). Also updated a bunch of other filecards (mostly minor stuff) but I can't remember which ones they are exactly (if you've been getting the RSS feed, you'll know which ones they are).
Also updated Grid-Iron, a happy compromise, I think, between his original uniform and a more modern and contemporary look. I almost like the character now. GI Joe Combat Operative ("Greenshirt") & Grid-Iron Also, here's a partial list of post-1989 characters I'll be adding to the organizational document: - Mace: Making him a criminal intelligence/anti-terrorism investigator, replacing Quick-Kick. This means I can move Quick-Kick back up as a Counterintelligence agent (once I re-write his filecard, of course), previously occupied by Scarlett before I "promoted" her to a CI warrant officer. - Altitude: I've decided to conflate the two different Altitude characters (I'll be using the name and characteristics of the Sky Patrol Altitude while using the rank of "Major" Altitude) and move him up as the assistant covering force platoon leader (replacing Flint). I'll move Flint to a yet-to-be-determined position that's more in line with the general conception of the character (I'll have to look up how Special Forces B and C detachments utilize their warrant officers). - I'm thinking of adding Snow Storm. Maybe as a SEAL (he could be a cadre trainer from Detachment Kodiak, the NavSpecWar's premier cold weather special operations training unit). There something about the idea of a Cuban defector on the GI Joe team that appeals to me for some reason. Also, I think the guys making him might have been maing a cocaine joke ("snow" storm + Cuban defector a la Tony Montana from the film Scarface) and I'd like to keep the joke going. Some changes I'll be making with the existing characters: - I'll be making Deep-Six a SEAL. While I like the idea of him being a Naval EOD/Ordnance Clearance Diver, I think making him a SEAL is much better in terms of making it a recognizable update - With Deep-Six being moved down, I'll be "promoting" Tripwire as the head NCO of the EOD Section and have Lightfoot become an EOD NCO - I'm not entrirely happy with Fast Draw as an EOD specialist, so I might remake him and move him somewhere else Last edited by zuludelta; 06-04-2009 at 10:44 PM.. |

Zap is a nice update from the last one (the side view wasn't really the best angle for this kind of project). Quote:

I'm down with all those potential changes. I almost missed Deep Six initially for being on the EOD squad. Mace is one of those not listed as a Marine but mentions the Shores of Tripoli on his file card. I've never been sold as him being a Marine but He sure makes a good candidate.
I'm sort of indifferent with the Snow guys too. but any change to Snow Storm will help him. Altitude as a Warrant Officer? Sounds more reasonable than the Command SGt Major of the Army. Major Altitude is a terrible name. I guess you don't need the additional Helicopter pilot. Plus I don't see him being one that would be missed. This all made me think of the one Guy I missed on the list was Hollow-Point from the BTR line. Crappy figure for sure, but one of the only 5 Marines on the Joes, who like Barrel-Roll is a Sniper/Helicopter Pilot? (Who Thinks up this drivel?) YOJOE.COM | Locust w/ Hollow Point At any rate I'm loving the GreenShirts. The balaclava is a nice touch to make them nameless. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 06-04-2009 at 11:16 PM.. |

Interrogator (his Cobra Battle Copter counterpart) was way more interesting, both as a toy, and as a filecard-based character. I'm actually turning the "Sigma 6/Mexican Long-Range" character into a Marine Scout-Sniper. I'm pretty surprised that the Joe team doesn't have one, since they are more or less considered the top long-range interdiction specialists in the Armed Forces. There are SEALs and Special Forces guys who'll beg to differ, but the Marines are the only service that have an actual MOS (the Scout-Sniper NMOS) dedicated to sniping, surveillance and fieldcraft. Other services view sniping as an additional skill, the Marines look at it as a full-time occupation. |
