Ah, I have no memory of him from the cartoon. Was he horribly bad?
I just know him from the comics, where I didn't think he was that bad. He was more of the "I understand that violence must sometimes be done in the defense of others, but I'm not going to participate" school, when he wasn't throwing Horror Show around. His first introduction in the cartoon was him complaining to Lifeline about the Tomahawk, a rescue helicopter, having missiles and guns on it. I don't remember seeing a big ol' red cross on the side of the Tomahawk and for some reason I don't think Cobra signed the Geneva Convention and wouldn't care if the Tomahawk was a rescue helicopter and wasn't to be fired upon. Then there was the episode where he was promoted (by Cobra) and during an attack he ordered the Joes not to fire on Cobra. If I had been a pacifist and saw that portrayal, I would have been upset I was being given a bad "name".

Back in the 80s, as a form of cross-promotion, Marvel would run little previews of the upcoming Joe cartoon seasons in the comics. Before the second season, they were talking about the new crop of Joes and they described Lifeline and Lift Ticket as Alan Alda and Charles Bronson being forced to work together. I always liked that comparison.

Watched most of We Were Soldiers last night. Had seen it before.
I was watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine when my gf got home and she went into the living room and put We Were Soldiers in. So went and watched the last 1/2 of that when Wolverine was done with. Good flick. Sam Eliot's Sgt. Major kicks ass. Col. Moore: "I wonder if this is how Custard felt." Sgt. Major: "Custard was a pussy. You're not." Col. Hal Moore is how I picture Hawk. First on the soil and last one on the chopper. No one, alive or dead, gets left behind. He's ordered to return to base and leave his men still fighting and his response is "I'm in the middle of the fight, I'm not leaving my men."

The movie figure that they've posted pics of? I'm going to have Marine Deadpool customize him and add him to the ODA team. He'll make a great Green Beret. I think he's a great figure. And the new Movie "Hawk" is supposed to be wearing a beret as well... hmm, if I can get a spare on ebay for a reasonable price, I may add him as well.

I like the use of Sgt. Stone, he's the team trainer. It's a much needed position for the movie Joes as they're an international team and someone has to figure out how to mix and match all those different tactics and to retrain spec-op soldiers that are use to one method.
The Sgt. Stone figure is great. Not sure how he'll fit into my Joeverse yet, but he'll find a spot. How is the ODA team coming? Got more pics? Got in hand yet?

I'm in no rush, and I owe Marine Deadpool some more money... he's a great guy to work with. I can't recommend him enough. So, has anyone seen the New Movie File cards? Is Stone supposed to be the new Trainer? He's not Lt. Stone from Sigma 6 or Extreme? Are there pics of the new file cards available? If anyone is interested, I've read 4 books on Delta Force... Pretty interesting stuff. It has really informed my Joeverse.
