If Blackout tells an officer to do something, it means the Commander is telling the officer to do it. But Blackout can't take control of a unit from it's officer. He can give messages and direction, it's up to the officer to carry it out. Of course, Blackout can perform executions of people that don't carry out the Commander's orders.

For example I try to use all the Joes that where boonie hats. and give them Cat Codenames. They're all rangers. So Leatherneck V2 =Cheetah Snake Eyes (Unclassified) =Jaguar Bazooka V2 =Tiger Shipwreck V8 =Panther Shipwreck V9 =Leopard What's really a shame are all the good Stalkers out there. No matter what I can't pretend they are someone else, So I pretend they are all South African. |

Cause technically Roadblock is a Machine Gunner and Heavy Duty is heavy weapons. He actually comes with a missile launcher.
So they're two different types of "jobs".

I see Blackout as a political officer type. He's CC's right hand man. His personal errand boy. He's not a high enough rank that he can just take charge of any unit he wants (hence calling Guilliotine "boss"). But everyone knows where he stands with the Commander and that gives him a special standing.

Nice list Loose. I had started on one similar, but had mine organized by Branch of the military, with rankings broken down in each branch.
I may take this guy's and rework it to reflect that. Saves me alot of "leg work" since he's gotten most of it done.

Hey guys, last night I finished reading the entire DDP/Image run (before America's Elite).
Let me just say, for the most part I was impressed. The Blaylock stuff from issue 1-24 was really, really bad at first (and don't get me started on the art work in those first issues), but it got better... however, the war on Cobra Island was poorly written and it paled in comparison to Hama's battles on Cobra Island. The Brandon Jerwa stuff from issue 25-43 was like a Soap Opera, that Smallville would be hard pressed to keep up with. Some of it was pretty good, but the end - with the Red Shadows - it was completely ridiculous. I read it and it was just bad. And to be honest, there was really no where for G.I. Joe to go after issue 43. Cobra Commander had killed the Baroness, and the Red Shadows had killed Gen. Colton and Cobra Commander, and Tomax and Xamot. They killed everybody. America's Elite has nowhere to start from at all. ... and I also read the first two issues of America's Elite last night: BARF! Why does Shipwreck look like a monkey? Why is Scarlett wearing a uniform 4 sizes to big for her? Why isn't Flint on administrative leave? Why does Roadblock have an earring? Why does everyone of the members of the team need a comb and a bath? It's just stupid. After going back and rereading the DDP/Image run, I will say that there were storylines that were good, but it ended terribly. And both writers seemed to have a need to end thier time with the Joes by killing off a bunch of them. The Red Shadows killed off several people that showed up in WWIII? Continuity is important. It made me glad for IDW to restart the line. Hama's run ended rather badly, though issue 155 was very solid, and there were a few bright spots before the end. I don't know, it's just sad when a great comic ends so terribly. Not with a Bang, but with a whimper. I will say that WWIII was fairly good. I reread that recently. It just pisses me off that they left General Hawk in a wheel Chair at the end, when a cure was specifically mentioned by the doctor when he was in the hospital. It's ridiculous. We'll see what IDW can do, but until they prove themselves, Make Mine Marvel!!!

Also, did anyone else notice that in the DDP run, Jerwa conflates Action Man and Tracker into one character?... and killed two birds with one stone. That's messed up.
He also killed of Glenda, Hard Ball, and Rampart and Big Boa.

yeah i liked how they brought in the random characters, but to have them just be dead bodies on the floor was a little weak. I like the idea of the Red Shadows being both against the Joes and Cobra, but they killed way too many characters. Seemingly just to kill people. I think you can bring in unused characters with little introduction. Big Boa could have been more, but the randomness of those killed added nothing to the story. Just questions. Hey they put Claymore on the pages. |

I don't like the DDP run.
I like America's Elite cause it tried to reboot Joe as a harder, more lean unit. It was grittier, which I liked.

They did use alot of the ones that Marvel missed, like Claymore.
They did give us Barrell Roll, Mayday and Blackout.
