Awesome! Thanks for checking. I know I have scans of every issue buried somewhere on an external drive, but I can't check until tomorrow morning.

Shipwreck v3's filecard is very Sunbow inspired:
File Name: Delgado, Hector X. Grade: CPO Birthplace: Chula Vista, CA Primary Specialty: Navy SEAL Secondary Specialty: Gunner's Mate Motto: "The way I drive attack boats, the brass decided the best place for me is UNDER water." Shipwreck grew up in the shadow of the Navy, notably the San Diego Navy Yards. He lied about his age and enlisted at 16. He soon became the quintessential sailor, able to splice a line, fry powdered eggs in the tooth of a gale and actually stomach his own cooking. He joined the Joes and was a valued member of the team, except for an incredibly arrogant attitude that caused trouble more than once. He was finally packed off for Navy SEAL training in the hope that it would straighten him out. The result was a new SEAL for the Joes - who somehow managed to keep the same brassy attitude as before, despite the rigors of the harshest military training available. From General Hawk's files: "Shipwreck is without question the most frustrating and annoying member of the entire team. He's arrogant, loud-mouthed and has virtually no respect for authority. He must have somehow fooled them into thinking he'd changed to get through SEAL training. That's the really annoying thing about him - he's so blasted good at what he does that it almost compensates for personality...almost". |

Looks like the badge didn't appear until Ron re-designed Mutt into a Cobra character. That's also when the insignia on his helmet appears. Looks like when he switched Mutt back to being a Joe the badge may have changed again, though it looks like the Cobra one more in the concept art. Could also be inspired by something not even from this era or not even from the USA. Ron used a lot of older, historical insignias too, even using Civil War era stuff sometimes and all the way up to the present. Ron and the design team also used other countries and their military designs for inspirations for designs too.
