So the lady Dail-Tone is actually the OG's daughter?

From Yojoe.com:
Versions of Dial-Tone Note that there is a male Dial Tone character with the filename of "Jack S. Morelli" and a female Dialtone character with the filename of "Jill S. Morelli." The G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra video game establishes them as siblings. Female Doc (Carla Greer) is the niece of OG Doc (Carl Greer) according to her filecard. Question about Recondo: his v2 filecard has him as a helicopter pilot. It was his Tiger Force figure, where he flew the Tiger Fly. Does anyone actually take that seriously, or was that just some weird "mistake" as all his subsequent file cards put him back at infantry/intelligence?
It's easy to explain in my JOEverse, though. TF is considered a mercenary group that uses G.I. JOE and Cobra vehicles. They don't want to be recognized as government JOEs, so they disguise themselves: dyed hair (e.g. Duke, Frostbite, etc.), different clothes (Dusty doesn't look like a desert trooper; Lifeline doesn't resemble a medic) and Recondo and Tripwire have been trained to be passable helicopter pilots. (Flint takes over when a more experienced pilot is truly called for.) I see TF operating mainly in India and Africa, where they could be hired by tribal warlords, wealthy sheiks, and bored rajas, who think the group is working for them, but actually performing sensitive off-the-books / deniable missions for the POTUS and / or Pentagon. |

I write them off as siblings. Since he's listed as James Longstreet Flagg III. And the original Flagg was Lawrence J. Flagg. Not sure which one would be older.

Lawrence is named after Larry Hama. He's the original Flagg according to the Impel cards. The '90's Flagg is his son, per the action figure's file card.

So going back to Flint: for him to be a Rhodes Scholar would have required four years at a university and then two years at Oxford(?). This would make him 24 as the earliest age when he enlisted in the army as an Infantryman. For the next three years he would have attended Airborne and Ranger school while serving as an 11B. I think the minimum time in service to achieve Sergeant is 36 months. So this would put him at 27 when he could first try out for Special Forces. SF schools can take a year or more depending on specialty. I would place him as either a Weapons Sergeant or Engineer Sergeant (to explain his demolitions SMS on his Tiger Force file card). Once he was finished training he would be required to serve in SF for a few years. So let's say a total of 3-4 years as SF before trying out for Warrant Officer school. This would put him at 30-31. From what I have read the cut off age for flight school is 33 so he would be pushing it.
Once flight school was completed he would need to serve several years as a pilot before trying out for the Joes. So probably mid to late 30's or even early 40's during this time. I picture him more in this age group and not that young-ish actor who portrayed him in that second Joe movie. On a side note what type of helicopter would Flint have specialized in? Looks like you select one when starting flight school. He could have been an attack, transport or recon pilot. |

If people with special education can start as 1st Lt., can't some start as Warrant Officers? Is it possible Flint went that route?

The aviation field is open to all applicants, military or civilian, who meet the stringent medical and aptitude requirements.[15]
After selection to the warrant officer program, candidates attend Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS), which is developed and administered by the Warrant Officer Career College (USAWOCC) at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Army candidates on active duty must attend the course at Fort Rucker. Candidates in the United States National Guard attend the course either at Fort Rucker, or one of the National Guard's Regional Training Institutes. After graduation, all candidates are promoted to warrant officers (WO1). Technicians attend training at their respective branch's warrant officer basic course (WOBC), where they study advanced subjects in their technical area before moving on to their assignments in the Army. Aviation-branched warrant officers remain at Fort Rucker to complete flight training and the aviation WOBC. Special Forces warrant officer candidates from both the active and national guard components attend the Special Forces Warrant Officer Technical and Tactical Certification Course (SFWOTTC) at the Special Forces Warrant Officer Institute, John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The course includes both WOCS and WOBC, tailored to the unique training and experience of the Special Forces Sergeant. Candidates must be a staff sergeant (E-6, NATO: OR-6) and above, and have served three years on an operational detachment. In 2008, the Army tested limited training of warrant officers at the United States Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, a course normally reserved exclusively for majors.[16] The CGSC Class of 2009 included five warrant officers, and the Class of 2010 included nine warrant officers. Three 2010 graduates continued on to higher-level training at the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) in 2011.[17] |
