Shipwreck is a gunner and a machinist mate. I don't think the comics or 'toons ever represented him doing his actual job pre-SEAL training.
Also, Rampart would be in the combat systems division. The way he died in DDP was stupid. Why was he even in Brazil acting like a LRRP? Heck, Glenda is a helicopter copilot! Why was she there? Smh. |

Reactor's got a few hundred, Air has the most, over 3,000 just for ship's company, nearly 2,000 more with the Air Wing on board.

Hey, anybody know what all that junk is on Hawk's original file card: served on Cadre on North Atlantic Range Command and USA ENG COM EVR missile and radar training? What are these exactly? And is that his first assignment after he graduated from West Point or would this be when he had risen a few ranks?

As for Atlantic Command, it became US Joint Forces Command, part of US Joint Forces Command was Special Operations Command, United States Joint Forces Command (SOCJFC) which became Special Operations Command - Joint Capabilities (SOC-JC) which both Zulu and I used as the building block for our Joeverse command structure. Zulu even used parts of SOC-JC's insignia and heraldry when he created his own Joe heraldry for his various projects. I miss his contributions to this thread. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...lantic_Command https://web.archive.org/web/20070222...m_socjfcom.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...t_Capabilities |

One thing that bothers me about Hawk and Duke: they're both artillery experts, but neither was ever really used in this capacity in the various media. What would their jobs actually be during a 1980's war scenario?

I figure Hawk being sort of associated with Missles and some sort of strategic missle command most likely includes Nuclear Missles means to me his clearances are the highest it can go.
Duke to my mind Artillery meant Artillery coordinator like Grunt. But neither set foot in the FLAK as far as I remember.

I thought by then all nuclear weapons were either under USAF or USN authority.

I would have thought that Duke, being Special Forces, would have been infantry, but being artillery makes me think of him being part of an Anti-Air or Anti-Tank battery, but I don't know that SF has that. The only thing that seems to describe him is an 18B -Special Forces Weapons Sergeant. Did that exist in Vietnam?

He is Special Forces. I bet Larry just threw that in there to make him more of a badass, or Hasbro did so kids could put him in the Whirlwind or something. Artillery coordinator makes more sense as a forward observer, but there is only so much room on those filecards.
