I don't like the idea of them coming from Delta either. I wonder how many guys go from Green Beret to Delta? It seems more Rangers go to Delta.
Still I think it would make sense in the beginning to pull guys from Delta to maybe stand up the Joes. Sort of the opposite of what happened when they stood up Delta, where Special Forces 5th Group set up BLue Light to fill the gap but none of them went to Delta. Coincidently Falcon was part of Blue Light, although they probably disbanded before he Joined the military, but that is either here nor there. I like to pretend that Hawk started the Joes with with a few members of Delta. Hawk also being Delta. The others, Rapid-Fire, Mercer V2, Spirit, and Lowlight. That is the only way I see guys going from Delta to Joes. Most guys would have to retire, and then go off to SAD or become Contractors. It's harder to spend more than 20 years in the Military unless you make Colonel, or Sgt Major, or CW-5. That puts most enlisted guys at 38-40 years old. Still plenty of life left.

I think you still have to complete the Special Forces Operations and Intelligence Sergeants Course which would qualify you for 18F anyway. Maybe it has changed? Maybe I am confused. I suppose if you took the Intelligence class, and were waiting for your shot at 18F, you could go on to the warrant officer technical and tactical certification course instead.
The first class of 24 SF warrant officers graduated in June 1984. Flint would have been one of the first Graduates. This may explain the E-6 Rank on the filecards. |

You know I can't find it now, and it seems like it may just be included as part of the training. I found that it used to be a requirement but I can't say if that has changed. My information seems old now.

I had thought of making the majority of the Original 13 as Special Forces soldiers helping to build the Joe team. I would have: Hawk: SF Officer Stalker: SF Intelligence and Assistant Operations Sergeant Breaker: SF Communications Sergeant Zap: SF Engineer Snake-Eyes: SF Engineer Short Fuze: SF Weapons Flash: SF Communications? Maybe all had been serving on the same ODA team (except for Hawk, who is a Lt. Colonel in my Joe-verse. Maybe he was in charge of the ODC team?) Then some soldiers from the 75th Rangers: Clutch Grand Slam (as a Fire Support Specialist) Rock'n'Roll That would leave Grunt (coming from an Infantry Regiment), Steeler (coming over from an Armor Regiment), and Scarlett (coming over from Intelligence). Trying to figure out how to incorporate them. Obviously the very first members would not need to go through a qualification course (otherwise who would be the ones to administer the course?). Maybe the seven Green Berets are the ones administering the course and the other six were the first to pass selection? |

You could add all to be from one ODA team except Scarlett.
Rock'n'Roll makes a good SF by sheer looks alone. Still maybe have your last 4 possibly Short-Fuze being part of a Cavalry Scouts team.

Flash could have been a tech guy from China Lake (or some similar place), testing and evaluating high tech equipment with a new high tech team. Not sure if anyone remembers this old insert (YOJOE.COM | Operation Freedom) but it mentioned Flash deploying electronic booby traps. Sounds like experimental weapons to me.
I'm not sure I see Breaker as an SF Comms Sgt. I see him more as a guy from the Intelligence Support Activity. |

Why can't he be both? Personally I like Retconning Breaker as a SF Comms Sgt. Maybe because of the GWOT and the change in grooming standards. If the beard fits it must be legit! Same goes for Rock'n'Roll and probably Outback.

he was called 'Stranger' in Brazil IIRC. Or you could go with Wilderness, Sierra, Tiger, Drifter, or something completely different...

Hi guys. I have a question for the experts. Why Hasbro made 3 different names for Short Fuze 82' and 83' file card? (Eric Freistadt, Mark Brenstan and Mark Freistadt) Thanks in advance.
