Good list, John. I agree the first eight are definite, and then it just depends on how you want to utilize your other SOF and recon assets.
Loose, how are you using Sky Patrol again? As a TACP? |

Yeah as a TACP. I figure they function as a Deep Recon asset, who take on Direct Action assignments in the form of bombing the hell out of targets.
I would add Sneek-Peak and Crazylegs and Manleh. Major Raine (custom CCT) Countdown Barrel-Roll (Lt) Skydive (E-9) Altitude Airwave Drop-Zone Airborne Sgt Six (Airborne II) Static-line Starduster Airstrike(custom CCT) Jammer (CCT) Sneek-Peak Freefall Ripcord Crazy Legs Manleh Cloudburst Condor SOKIRK Custom combat Weatherman but I don't have a good Codename. Sgt Stormy? I am looking at my whole Airborne\Long Range Surveillance team and its more of a mix of ODA, SAS, MOUNTAIN team with a helicopter assets besides the Sky Patrol guys

So MFF-qualified Joes:
Definite: Ripcord Freefall Skydive Static Line Airwave Altitude Drop Zone Airborne II Possibly: Airborne (if indeed the Joes are all basic airborne qualified why would he have a codename of Airborne otherwise?) Spirit Duke Snake-Eyes (whether he is former SF or RRC) Stalker (same reasons as Snake-Eyes) Flint Falcon Beachhead (if you go with him as former SF) Grand Slam Barrel Roll Grunt (if you make the glider pilots as such) Gung Ho Leatherneck Torpedo Wet-Suit Tracker Wet Down Link Talbot Harpoon Night Fox Starduster Breaker (if used as SF) Outback (if used as SF) Recondo (if used as SF) Big Brawler (if used as SF) Claymore Shipwreck (if used as a SEAL) Cloudburst Skymate Lifeline (if used as a PJ) Deep Six (if used as Navy EOD) Depth Charge (if used as either a SEAL or Navy EOD) Dusty (if used as SF) Rock'n'Roll (if used as SF) I am not saying that ALL Special Forces, Force Recon and Navy SEALs are MFF-qualifed but they have a better chance than say a tank driver or a standard infantry soldier. Marine Force Recon as experienced as Gung-Ho and Leatherneck should be MFF-qualified. It's not a part of the Recon or MARSOC pipeline, but they try to get those guys that qual. The Marines started their own MFF school to get more of their guys trained. The Army is a bit of a toss up. SF and Rangers have the longest average wait for MFF school. Part of it is that that there are so many of them compared to the other services. Another part is that you need orders to a billet the requires MFF to go to MFF school. Unless you're on a HALO team or have been on one, it's hard to get the MFF qual in the Army. The Army had plans to make MFF a required part of the Q-course, but I hadn't heard much about it, since they announced the plan a few years ago.

I knew PJ's and CCT's were all MFF-qualifed but wasn't sure on SEAL's. Everything I have read indicated they went through basic Airborne school but being MFF-qualifed was only required for some units within the SEAL Teams. Looking over my list I don't think Grunt and Grand Slam would be MFF-qualified in the real world. I may have to fudge what units they were assigned to before the Joes. Maybe a Long Range Surveillance Unit? Of course if one makes their Joe team more or less like Delta or the SAS then ALL Joes would be eligible to go to free fall school, regardless of their previous unit or MOS. |

I guess blackrazor is thinking Grand-Slam and Grunt are from Jetpack and the Glider. Now with the new Jetpack / glider combos we've been getting it's sorta makes the skills similar. (Skydive's or Sokerk/Snake-Eyes flying wings)

I seem to recall Zulu Delta saying something about the Joes needing some sort of additional skill like MFF,SCUBA,mountaineering before joining the team, and would get the others afterwards. Going by the comics, almost everyone has been shown to do MFF at some point or another. Notable exceptions that I can think right now are Steeler, Grand Slam, Short Fuse, Zap, and Tripwire. As an aside, I always loved seeing the Joes doing a HALO insert into Sierra Gordo in issue 13 of the Marvel run.

I just got done looking at Sideswipe's file-card. He's a medical specialist and listed as pay grade: E-5A. What's the "A" stand for? I've never seen it on other Joe cards.

I never noticed but I don't own Sideswipe. Definitely those poorly written Filecard years. Straight ripoff of Stretcher.
