A SEAL platoon is now at 21 actually: three officers and 18 enlisted. They can split into three squads or smaller elements.

Do they have Warrant Officers like ODA teams?

Not anymore, SAS UK and SASR Australian troops are different. SAS Troops are platoon sized and SASR troops are company sized. I'll explain more in a few more posts
AFAIK SEAL platoons are now 18-20, after 9/11 they started adding x 2 EOD Technicians from the Naval Expeditionary Warfare Community, and USAF CCTs or PJ's seem to be tasked to a SEAL platoon habitually too. Quote:
I knew a SEAL platoon would sometimes have Navy EOD tech's assigned to them but wasn't aware they had a third officer. Did they add an additional officer recently? Quote:

Operations Officer Squadron Sergeant Major (SSM) Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant (SQSM) Staff Sergeant Four Troops consisting of 16 men each (including the HQ section for each, which has a Troop Commander and a Troop Sergeant). So a UK Sabre Squadron would be roughly 70 men whereas a SASR Squadron would be 432. Am I off on my math? Last edited by john shaft; 07-15-2015 at 07:32 AM.. |

The Seal Team officers are commissioned officers.
Now that you mention it, I don't recall ever coming across a NSW warrant. The warrants I came across were all technical experts, which is true in the Army too, but the Navy generally uses warrants where a commissioned officer is needed but the technical expertise exceeds the appropriate commissioned rank for leadership. For example, the Navy might have a repair section that has say, 25 sailors, and for a unit that size, a junior officer would lead it, but the technical expertise requires years of experience, and, being good at electronic repair doesn't necessarily mean you will be good at commanding a ship. |

Well you see who I am getting at. Torpedo and Wet-Down, possibly Dr. Link Talbot as well. I upgraded Torpedo to Lt. A long time ago.

Don Mann, an ex-SEAL and DEVGRU operator was a Warrant Officer 3 as a SEAL Special Operations Technician. His autobiography 'Inside SEAL Team 6' was passable reading but it's mostly about his love of extreme adventure sports. His series of fiction is okay as well, his lead character who seems like a thinly disguised version of himself is a Warrant Officer too.
Getting back to the Delta Combat Support Squadron for a moment, here's an interesting Linkedin profile; https://www.linkedin.com/pub/thomas-satterly/29/88b/850 Could be real, could be BS. |

Where'd you find that? Real or not it's an interesting timeline for service, which seems totally plausible.

There are so many SOF guys on Linkedin and they're not shy about disclosing details of things that would normally get redacted if they wrote a book. It's kinda strange. There's alot of information floating around on job vacancy sites too.
