I had high hopes for the IDW anthology, but it was just a huge let down.
A nicely edited (IDW's anthology was horribly edited) series of novels (and not like Del Rey has done Star Wars lately with the 9 part series, but more in the old days in when the EU first started) were be awesome. The thing I liked about the Star Wars was that some books built off of what came before, some were their own adventures, all by different authors, but none contradicted the other.

I think Lucasfilm does a better job of editorial continuity than Hasbro has ever done with its properties. Can you imagine how much better the filecards would have been if Hasbro had just exercised just a bit of due diligence? We wouldn't have seen the sweeping rank changes from year to year for one.

No kidding. Lucas does a great job of keeping an eye on all their properties.
The novels intersect with the comics pretty well and the video games. I'm sure, with the sheer amount of material out there now, that there have been contradictions and discrepancies, but for the most part it's well done.

I had two of the Adventure books. I think I still do.
GIJOE unfortunately has been redone, rebooted and rehashed so many times that you almost predict what will happen. The comic series are a letdown because they aren't really doing anything new, just retelling old stories with a modern twist. I'm over the MASS device and nano-technology and special suits. And how many times is Cobra Commander going to get killed off? |

I really enjoyed and still do many of the young adult novels like Siege of Serpentor, Jungle Raid, Invisiblity Island, and Divide and Conquer. If you're a Joe fan and haven'e read those four books, you really should.
They were full of action and featured a lot of my favorite Joe's!

Was there an official Sgt Savage & The Screamin' Eagles and GI JOE Extreme filecards or printing that had their job title and rank for each GI JOE character? (ie: Heavy Gunner, driver, firefighter, pilot).

Yup
YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - 1995 and http://www.yojoe.com/action/other/extreme/ look under "bio" under each individual character. The bios aren't that great though. Last edited by Tyroc; 01-11-2012 at 04:05 AM.. |

So in another thread someone joked that Joe's would have to get a Beyblade like thing in order to compete in the retail marketplace.
It got me thinking, and I threw out some ideas in that thread, that a beyblade thing might actually work for Joe. But instead of battling monsters the Joes and Cobras come with mini-drones (think the mini-hiss that was supposed to come with CC or the mini-tank that came with RoC Ripcord). Joes and Cobras would still have specialties and equipment, but have these mini-drones that would aid them in the battles. Cobra Troopers have Viper drones: Frag-Vipers (mobile mini-cannons), SAW-Vipers (mobile mini-guns), HEAT-Vipers (mobile flame throwers). The Joe's would have unique drones for each of them. Roadblock would have Rock 'n Roll, a mobile mini-gun. Shipwreck would have Torpedo, a mobile sub/UED unit Tripwire would have Lightfoot, a mobile EOD Breaker would have Dial-tone, a mobile communications unit Drones would be controled by remote control, pre-programmed (and "trained" to interact/work with their controler) and limited telepathic (by devices created by the drones inventor, Ward Michaelmas aka Brainstorm). The drones would be small (Breaker's comm drone) to large (Roadblock's mini-gun). G.I. Joe: Drone Wars would be the working title. I want/need better though. For figures, the Joes/Cobras would have equipment like they do now and the drones, which would have battle stats for the kiddos for a battle game. Cobra Troopers would have 3 or 4 different drones, so there would be incentive to troop build. Thoughts?

Would they actually be mobile via a beyblade type device?
I would wonder about the cost, though, of adding these to already high-priced figures. |
