Can't wait to read it Tank.
Which Joes do we figure are true 75th Rangers? Beachhead; Stalker; Skydive; Sneek Peak; Rampage. It seems like the Rangers are sort of stuck driving around lookikng for weapons in today's conflicts. Those small team special operations or yesteryear are only done by Green Berets and SEALs of today's battles.

I have the same thing, lots of half finished computer codes, dios, models, etc.; forcing myself to finish anything puts me off it, but I know I'll come back round to each of them in turn, just have to keep everything ready to start up again as my interest moves round. |

I think the nature of today's conflicts (vague lines, insurgents embedded in civilian populations, etc.) has made it a necessity that "regular" airborne infantry (like the 173rd Airborne) do a lot of the stuff that planners thought only Rangers were equipped to do (that is, fighting in counterterrorism actions in low-intensity conflicts, among other things). The 75th RR still does things that are unique to its operational capabilities, though. Recently declassified reports indicate that the 75th RR STB's Reconnaissance Company conducted a number of HALO/HAHO insertion recon, surveillance, and combat operations in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2009. It's certainly likely that the "regular" 75th RR battalions (non-STB) also conducted similar operations requiring the set of skills unique to the regiment, we just haven't heard about them. Yeah I don't know what we don't know. And for good reason.
I think I forgot Freefall and Starduster

I don't know much about the joes who were previously rangers. I work with the 2/75th Ranger BN guys everyday. Not all of them are airborne qualified. They usually worry about getting them through some other schools first. I had an E6 come through who had been with that bat for 5 years and he was just now going to airbourne school.
The fact is, there is no need for rangers to jump most of the time. The only guys who usually do are the HALO SF teams. When I try to explain the different units to my wife I do it like this. SF: Special forces, they do the nitty gritty covert stuff and spend a lot of peace time training and training other units from around the world. SOAR: They drive(fly) the special kids around in their short bus. (Schnook...sometimes blackhawk...sometimes other) This is the top 2% of Army helicopter jocks. I had a friend who works for boeing tell me about some of the crazy training/test flights he has been on with them. They do things a helicopter was never ever designed to do. Imagine a Tomohawk doing a barrell roll. I love some of the SOAR guys to death. Takes something special to do night ops over the water refuling with 30 mph gusts in a downpoor. Rangers: Unlike SF, they don't get to think as much. These are top-notch guys who follow orders and execute. The "baby killers" of the Army. These guys are told to clear a building, nothing comes out. The building gets cleared. No questions. Striker Brigades/infantry: This is the rag tag every day infintry who pulls mostly security detail and is the cannon fodder of the infantry if they run out of marines. Then I run down the rest of the fobbits and support guys for her. It is kind of hard to explain to people who have never been around it, or lived it.

I tend to err on the side of "AIrborne Ranger" means 75th Reg. Listed as Ranger School just means that as far as we know.
Sneak Peek for sure. Beachhead for sure, which leads me to Rampage since they served together. Starduster also Airborne Ranger Freefall most likely since it mentions the word Ranger like 4 times in his filecard. Skydive was an instructor at Ranger School for ten years. I'd say he's Ranger all the way. Guys like Dart seem like a possibility but his card almost reads like he just did Ranger School and then went back to his unit. YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Dart

Yeah Repeater has nothing that says Ranger except his card art. The figure reflects the ranger tab on his cap, even though it doesn't show on the figure. Still I always assumed he wears the cap with pride for his unit.
