Neo Vipers are described as "next generation" infantry, so one might consider them as replacements for the regular Cobra troopers, or you might intergrate them and consider them as another SF unit. As for Sand Vipers, they would be specialized Vipers. Whew! I think that about covers it. However, I left out some individuals who aren't really described as Vipers, like WORMS and Copper Head (is he a Viper? Swamp Viper?)

Wow, that was quick. Used to take YoJoe awhile to update, they've been doing it pretty quick last month or so.
YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Duke (version thirty) 2nd look, it's as bad as the late '90s. No military schools/qualifications at all. I don't like it. It's actually kind of corny and cheesebally. As far as figures go, the Duke is very cool looking. Best Duke ever. |

YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Ripcord His card doesn't list much beyond that he jumps. The last line of the personality quote "Once on the ground you don't want to know what he does" gives a good idea. My take on Ripcord is that he's one of the toughest Joes. This is a guy that they send in alone, either ahead of the main force or by himself. He does recon or assault missions. Drops in on inaccessible locations, does some damage well on the ground (or gathers intel) and gets out. So he'd need to be able to hold his own and survive. The look of camo works, and the gun works, along with his chute. So yeah, one of the Joes that form/function is pretty perfect.

WORMS, the Maggot driver, I'd have as a troop and not individual.

Ripcord, Im going to make him like a parachute ranger commando, for sustained deep reconnaissance, Their primary missions are deep-penetration reconnaissance and sabotage of enemy naval installations. They use closed-circuit diving apparatus, kayaks, or parachutes as methods of insertion. I took all this info off of a site called Special Operations.com

That's too bad. They probably don't know what to write. But why not redifine him with Bosnia/Somali/Iraq and Afghanistan qualifications and countless other unknown operations? Black Ops out the Wahoo and qualified experts with every weapon in existence. And learned to fly a Skystriker for the fun of it!
Does that make sense? I don't think Hasbro wants to associate Resolute with real conflicts, for whatever reason. Thanks to the filecards and the comic book, the original Joes are associated with Viet Nam. Personally I liked that. It helped "ground" them in reality.

In fact, wasn't Ripcord part of the "bad-ass" sneaky team from the attack on Springfield in the Marvel Comics? That panel was scanned in and shown on the board recently... where was that.. edit: NVM, Ripcord was wounded and "impersonating" Zartan at the time.

Freefall's card says he's an Airborne Ranger, so I'm thinking Ripcord should at least be the same.
So does anyone else think that Ripcord falls into the same category of "badassness" as Stalker, Beachhead and that group?

I'm thinking it has more to do with not wanting to create a connection to real events. I'm thinking that they wanted to create the feel that "sure these are soldiers, but it's all fantasy, they aren't really soldiers".

A business giant like Hasbro is not going to associate itself with any recent conflict when we're knee deep in war and the public for the most part is against it. I wholeheartedly agree with you, but I feel that they would have given our fave characters a more "grounded reality" in Resolute with specific conflicts in their files if we were knee-deep in peace.
