Was that what his second weapon was (not the Steyr AUG, but the one that came in a case)? I always thought it was a takedown rifle of some sort (it's been years since I've seen the toy in person, so you're probably right).
I think you might be confusing the Marine Security Guard Battalion (a.k.a. the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group) with the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment. The former is where the embassy guards come from (and entry is open to any MOS), while the latter, which is where the FAST Companies originate, is largely restricted to Marines with infantry-based MOSes (with the occasional exceptions). They're distinct and separate organizations with different missions and entry requirements. The MOSes and responsibilities are different for the organizations, the Marine Security Guard (i.e., the embassy guard) is MOS 8156 and is classified as an FMOS (a "free MOS" with no PMOS prerequisites), while the Marine Corps Security Force Guard (the guys in the FAST Companies) is MOS 8152 and is classified as an EMOS ("exception MOS," with qualification in the rifleman PMOS -- MOS 0311 -- as a prerequisite for the award of the EMOS, although this can be waived as long as the applicant's ASVAB score meets the minimum rifleman PMOS ASVAB requirements). I don't know if the infantry prerequisite can be waived for the FMOS assignment as a FAST Company Recapture Tactics/Close-Quarters Battle Team Member (MOS 8154), though. Thanks for the FAST info.

I also noticed while looking up Range Officer for the Marine Corps, that the MOS 0930 (Range Officer) is only opened to WO-CWO-5. Although This MOS may now be close or merged as of 2009.
Is this another Flint from E-6 to W-2? Both are Helicopter Pilots? However I don't think the Marine Corps has Warrant Officer Helicopter Pilots like the Army. Supposedly, the USMC stopped using Flight Warrant Officers after the Vietnam conflict.

I always figured Bullhorn as an FBI guy more than anything myself, and I'm just as pro-Marine as anyone. But as we discussed long ago, if he came from FBI then he should be an officer correct? Sort of like Bulletproof. Then there are the Captain's bars on the collar.
His convention file card makes the FBI thing explicit, but his rank still doesn't make any sense... Either he's an E-4 and a Marine, or he's a Captain and FBI He cannot be an E-4 FBI Agent. I think he belongs on the list of Marines because I want more Marines, but there is certainly an argument to be made for the FBI.

I think they mean that E-4 is a military rank and FBI is a civilian job.

All the ARAH Joes that we normally think of as snipers (Low-Light, Spirit, Snow-Job) are only really credited as marksmanship instructors and/or trained in the use of certain long-range rifles. But as somebody mentioned in a much, much earlier post (I think it was blackrazor), "sniper" and and "marksmanship instructor" are two very, very different things. A sniper's skillset involves a lot more than just shooting things from long range. Quote:

It would be a huge step down in pay for one thing if they decide to go the enlisted route. IIRC, entry-level FBI agents are at least in the GG-09 pay scale (FBI agents are paid according to the GG pay scale, which is similar to, but not the same as, the GS pay scale)... which pays at least as much as an Army first lieutenant or Navy lieutenant-junior grade, an FBI agent with a few years' experience would probably make at least as much as an Army major or Navy lieutenant commander. Even with a bachelor's degree and all that prior experience, if a former FBI agent insists on going enlisted instead of a branch's Officer Candidate School, the maximum entry grade a former FBI agent can receive upon signing up as an enlisted man is E-4 (which would be several levels of pay below what he is accustomed to) and he will have to slog it out like everybody else to get promoted to the higher NCO ranks (and unless he eventually goes to OCS and becomes an officer, he'll never get paid as much as he did when he was working as an FBI agent). Back in the day, Army enlisted recruits with bachelor's degrees and significant experience in certain fields (like law enforcement, engineering, etc.) could be immediately assigned to the E-6 pay grade (as a "specialist 6," not as a staff sergeant) upon completing Basic Training, but with the abolition of the specialist 5-specialist 9 ranks in the late 1970s/early 1980s, that doesn't happen anymore. Also, only tangentially related to your question but I figure you might find it interesting... select enlisted US Army CID Special Agents actually receive some of their training at the Canadian Police College's main campus in Ottawa (and occasionally at the CPC's west campus in Chilliwack). Not entirely sure what they study there specifically... cross-training in Tim Horton's coffee and donuts maybe? Last edited by zuludelta; 02-22-2011 at 06:32 PM.. |

Plus I couldn't imagine a say 26-27 year old FBI agent slogging it out with 18-19 year olds and not basically taking charge. And not kicking himself for passing on OCS training to be led by a 22 year old Lt.
