Yeah, I'm learning more about the history all the time, Zulu. Thanks for adding to it. From the comics, Stalker was a LRRP /Ranger. Whether he was SOG is questionable because there's no hard evidence, as Zulu pointed out, but I just wanted to illustrate that if he was a member of a SOG recon team--like Snake Eyes--then he most likely was Special Forces. Hama, unless he was ignorant of SF involvement in SOG, had to have intended Snake Eyes to be Special Forces since his classified dossier in the comics included the following SOG documentation:

Heh. Thanks again. For my money, I think the LRS Troops/Companies attached to the MI Corps BfSBs are the "spiritual successors" of the Vietnam War-era 75th Infantry Regiment (Ranger) LRRP companies. I say this with no offense meant to people who have served and continue to serve with the 75th Ranger Regiment (Airborne), of course. But in terms of their function, the LRS Troops'/Companies' mission seems to embody that of the 75th Infantry Regiment's LRRP mission more than the 75th Ranger Regiment's direct action one.

The 75th has its own Regimental Recon Company to do the job of LRSU and more. But the 4th training btn does teach the LRS Leader's Course.

The 75th Ranger Regiment's Regimental Reconnaissance Company isn't formally designated as an LRSU, even if many of the Company's rangers are graduates of the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course (what used to be called the Long Range Surveillance Course). I remember there was a bit of a flap over the establishment of the Special Troops Battalion, because the regiment's leadership decided to remove the requirement for RIP/RASP (Ranger Indoctrination Program/Ranger Assessment and Selection Process) to join the STB. And yeah, the Ranger Training Brigade's 4th Battalion is in charge of running the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course. But keep in mind that the Ranger Training Brigade and the 75th Ranger Regiment are separate entities with related but distinct lineages. The 75th Ranger Regiment has its own "in-house" training unit, the Special Troops Battalion's Ranger Operations Company, which is in charge of conducting RIP/RASP. I'm pretty sure you already know this, but just to clear things up for the people following along at home, the 75th Ranger Regiment's RIP/RASP, which is required for candidates wanting to join the 75th Ranger Regiment (with the exception of the regiment's special troops battalion, which doesn't require RIP/RASP for entry), is different from the Ranger Training Brigade's Ranger School, which is an infantry-based combat leadership course that is open to just about any male soldier in the Army of the rank E-4(P) and above (although most people who go through it come from the combat arms branches, naturally). A lot of people confuse the two and think that they refer to the same thing. Not all members of the 75th Ranger Regiment have graduated from the Ranger Training Brigade's Ranger School (although everyone in the regiment in the rank of SGT and above must be a Ranger School graduate), but every member of the 75th Ranger Regiment (except for those in the regiment's Special Troops Battalion), even those in the rank of PFC, SPC, and CPL, is required to complete RIP/RASP. Interesting stuff! The lines between special and conventional warfare are greyer than ever today, and G.I.Joe has always included elements of both. I guess I always regarded G.I.Joe as a dynamic multirole special operations ground combat-focused force, with elements of air, artillery, armor, and various other support. No such force actually exists and it probably wouldn't be practical either, but it sure is a cool concept!

Snow Job Crosshairs Hollow Point Surefire (iffy) Barrel Roll Shooter That thread scares me. Making people snipers because they come with guns that look like a sniper's rifle.....

Are we talking snipers strictly by job, or those who could do it? Scarlett is qualified Expert with the M-700, for instance.
