Actually, Grill was a member of Sgt. Savage and the Screaming Eagles.
The GI Joe Extreme roster is as follows:
EDIT: All listed out like that, I'm actually a little horrified/embarrassed seeing the extent of GI Joe Extreme ephemera I know and have remembered all these years I'll be using some of these for sure, actually I already have. I keep getting Freight and Grill confused. So then who are the Sgt Savage characters? I only ever saw D-Day and Dynamite. There's more? |

In my structure, the Stone character from Extreme is the XO of the Delta Sabre Squadron.
My Joes are divided into operationally into Sabre Squadrons like Delta / SAS. Each Sabre Squadron is led by a Major and divided into troops Air / Amphibious / Ruck or Mobility and Mountain. Each Troop has 16 operators led by a Captain or Warrant Officer that can be broken down into 2 teams of 8 or 4 teams of 4 as needed. The Troop designation only refers to Insertion method. All Joes are basic Airborne qualified and it's expected that over their career they will rotate through several Troops and squadrons picking up additional skills. Each Sabre Squadron has a small HQ element attached to a mobile HQ akin to an ODA B Team. They can be crudely broken down into; Alpha - Light Infantry Bravo - Heavy Infantry Charlie - Combined Arms Delta - Infantry Gamma - Recon, Infiltration and Intelligence Collection General Rey and Col Courage (with a small HQ element) are in charge of the Sabre Squadrons and they are as follows; Alpha "America's Elite" -Air Troop (HALO/HAHO) "Sky Patrol" (Sky Dive) -Amphibious (Combat Diving) "Barracudas" (Wet Down) - Mobility (Light Infantry) "Battle Rangers" (Falcon) - Mountain "Adventure Team" (Boulder) Bravo "America's Heroes" -Air (Accelerator Suit) "Battleforce 3000" (Speed Metal) -Mobility (Combined Anti Armor) "Battle Corps" (Roadblock) -Mountain (Heavy Weapons) "Front Line" (Rock n Roll) - Amphibious (SDV Craft Insertion) "Combat Team" (Torpedo) Charlie "America's Mettle" -Air (Forward Observer Glider Insertion) "Air Commandoes" (Barrel Roll) - Mobility (Mobile Infantry) "Rapid Deployment Force" (Rapid Fire) -Mobility (Armored Cavalry) "Tank Corps" (Thunderwing) -Mobility (Artillery Battery) "Firing Line" (Red Leg) Delta "Real Americans" -Air (Helicopter Insertion) "Valor" (Airborne) - Mobility (Infantry) "Screaming Eagles" (Rock) - Amphibious (Craft Insertion) "Resolute" (Devil Dog) - Mountain "Extreme" (Quick Strike) Gamma "Spirit of America" aka Ghost Squadron (only one with Female operators and are the ISA equivalent to the others Delta) Ghost Recon is made up of all the 'forgotten Joes'...taking discarded code and file names and fusing them to make new characters. For example, in the UK Footloose was called Long Slide in the comics and his name was Andrew Mackay instead of Andrew Meyer. Hershel Dalton the ROC Heavy Duty is here too under the name Arsenal..etc Spooky Gunship Unit "Ghost Riders" (Spectre) Core Collection Cell "Spy Troops" (Scarlett) Special Recon "Ghost Recon" (Agent Delta) Infiltration Troop "Ninja Force" (Storm Shadow) The Sabre Squadrons have a worldwide Area of Operation. Further to the Sabre Squadrons, the Joes have smaller units with dedicated Areas of Operation. Based internationally alongside their respective SF Commands, they are first responders based on their AO. NORTHCOM - 2 Law Enforcement / DOD units that operate together and pass the Posse Comitatus Act by having operators working directly with Law Enforcement. Anti Piracy and Drug Squadron "DEF" led by Cutter Law Enforcement and HRT "COPS" led by Bullet Proof SOUTHCOM - Tiger Force (led by Claymore) PACCOM - Eagle Force (led by Captain Eagle) EUCOM - Arctic Force (led by Tundra and Sub Zero) CENTCOM - Desert Force (led by Major Storm) AFRICOM - Night Force (led by Psyche Out) This way, even the Desert and Arctic guys get to be used beyond their Environmental Specialties. So Who are these guys, which figure, and what rank and branch of service? Capt Eagle? Spectre? Devil Dog? Rock? Red Leg? And are you bumping guys in rank as well? |

Headbanger Mouse Tank The direct-to-video Screaming Eagles cartoon was ten kinds of shitty as evidenced by the screencaps above, but it had a number of hilarious WTF? moments: Sgt. Savage emulating Shaq and doing a two-handed tomahawk dunk in a pick-up basketball game, shattering the backboard in the process, is one example; Savage blowing apart a steel door with energy beams from his eyes (yeah, apparently Sgt. Savage has super powers) is another. One of my favourite lines from the cartoon was when Hawk was introducing the just-thawed Sgt. Savage to the over-the-top unruly Screaming Eagles: "The Army's invested too much in them to let me just shoot them" Last edited by zuludelta; 03-01-2010 at 01:56 AM.. |

One question I'd like ask (although it's more rhetorical than anything else) is how many people actually know that Rambo is a former Green Beret? The nature of his SF experience and training was front-and-center on Fiirst Blood (one of my favourite films of the early 1980s), but it seems to have been shoved aside in favour of "Hollywood super soldier" in the largely forgettable sequels (which, I think, are actually more popular and widely watched than the original film... I know a lot of people who think that Rambo: First Blood Part II was the first movie in the film franchise despite the title stating the obvious :P).

To me, First Blood is exhibit A for making the case that Stallone is an Oscar-worthy actor if he's working with a good director and an excellent screenplay. It's when he's left to his own devices that we get the Razzie hall-of-shame material (most of the Rocky and First Blood sequels, Cobra, The Specialist, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, etc.). |

Could you elaborate? :0 But seriously I'm stealing some of these as I know you use everyone. I'll reuse different versions if they are different enough. But sometimes a headswap will do the trick.
So Who are these guys, which figure, and what rank and branch of service? Capt Eagle? Spectre? Devil Dog? Rock? Red Leg? And are you bumping guys in rank as well? Spectre is a USAF Major (using one of the many Ace repaints). The entire Ghost Squad is commanded by Ghost Rider the Phantom X1 pilot. Red Leg is a US Army Artillery Captain (using one of the many Duke repaints). Steeler commands the Combined Arms squad (tanks, artillery and aviation recon) and I was using Barrage and Maj Storm elsewhere, I also didn't want to reduce either of their ranks so created another character. A Red Leg, I read was a nickname for a Artillery man. Devil Dog is a USMC Captain, I wanted some USMC officers and the yellow/brown Leatherneck from '91/92 looked good. In terms of changing ranks and things, I've given all the E4 and E5 Joes a promotion. No one in my Joe team is below an E6. To my mind they'd have to be at least an E5 to even qualify. I think the only Joe I've given a huge promotion to has been Sparks who's an Ops Captain. He seemed odd as an enlisted man. Most of the Joes are still senior NCOs and some are Warrant Officers (Scarlett, Airborne, Mainframe, Breaker, Cover Girl) Some Joes never had specific ranks so I made them Junior Officers; Boulder and Quick Stryke. I also decided to make Lady Jaye a DIA Captain like her counterpart in Reloaded. Most of the Officers have been given one or two promotions; Claymore is a Col. Steeler, Grid Iron, Super Trooper/Talon and Psyche Out are all Majors. Falcon and Rapid Fire are Captains. Most Officers have to be at least promotable to an O3 to qualify as a Joe in my 'verse. I'm hoping to finish up my chart by the end of the week, so I'll post it on sendspace then. Thanks for asking Rock was a nod to Sgt Rock, the Screaming Eagles to me were very WWII inspired so all the other members scream Easy Company and Howling Commandoes. In my interpretation Rock is the great grandson of Sgt Savage's WWII CO who was murdered by General Blitz / Lt Krieger the unit's own XO. I use another Duke repaint for him too. He's a US Army Captain from the Big Red One (1st Div) |

Yeah, I was the same. I was too young to appreciate First Blood when I first saw it (actually, I remember falling asleep about halfway though the film), but I recently got it on Blu-Ray and I have to say, Stallone gives one of the best performances of his career in that film, particularly in the heart-wrenching final scene with Col. Braddock in the police station (what makes Stallone's performance in that scene so much more impressive was he was pretty much ad libbing his way though it).

Not that Rambo III is the best movie of all time, but I would have to say that the year it came out it had to be one of the best action flicks that year. He actually flys a helicopter in that one. But set in Afghanistan was par for the course at that time.
Thanks for the ideas Tyroc. Lady Jaye was in Reloaded? I never could get into Reloaded. I had a few of those Eagle Force guys back in the Day. Are you using Action Force Eagle as well? I was planning on using him, But I need to just rename him Captain\Major Buckingham. (I already have an Eagle Character I've used for years.) Thanks Zulu for the refresher. I'm not sure if I'll use those last three. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 03-01-2010 at 03:52 AM.. |

Yeah I plan on using Action Force but strictly as an EU force. Haven't got around to them yet :(
I keep chopping and changing my Joe set up (but I guess that's half the fun) Reloaded was umm odd. I can't say that I'd recommend it. I've never liked John Ney Reiber as a writer and his revamp of the Joes wasn't really anything that 'thrilled' me. He made a few changes, like Rock n Roll as a Seal, Lady Jaye as a DIA Captain and further into the storyline, Duke as a traitor and undercover Cobra General. Which made no sense whatsoever from a symmetrical stand point. A SF Master Sgt is a Cobra General? No matter how talented and experienced he is, the jobs and skills involved are very very different...sigh. |
