Looking thru 'em, some of 'em could work as Cobra or Joe agents, part of Ninja Force.
Guile's hair is just too out there. Chun Li isn't bad, Ryu, Ken Masters, Vega, M. Bison.

Zagat is the only on I don't keep in the bottom of the Box. I use him for a CC bodyguard. Vega fits in pretty easily as well. The rest sort of Suck. Even E Honda. My problem is that mine can't seem to keep his leg down. It just stays up like he's posing for a Capt Morgan ad? The Mortal Kombat guys meld well as Ninja mercs. but there is only so many of them.

I use Street Fighters/Mortal Kombat figures as primarily the East Asia Summit equivalent of the Joes but on a much smaller scale. Their size and strength is comparable to that of the Oktober Guard.
Their main adversaries are the Red Shadows (M Bison, Zangrief, Sagat, Ken Masters) and Cobra who have been infiltrating Asian crime gangs like the Yakuza and Triads. The team is woefully understrength due to the political squabbling of its member nations and so the team is usually force augmented by a Joe team stationed in South Korea and elements of Storm Shadow's Ninja Force. Haven't got a name for them yet, when I was a kid, they were Kombat Fighters |

In regard to the Duke/Falcon as half brothers thing. I've always used them as cousins. Albeit, Duke being considerably older.
It seems strange that they were supposed to be half brothers and at the same time, in the DDP comic, Duke's mother died whilst still supposedly married to Duke's father and they wer both hippies/anti war activists. Also, why would someone raised by anti war activists join the army as a sign of duty, honour and 'the right thing to do' instead of teenage rebellion. ??? My solution's fairly simple. Duke's mom came from a career NCO military family. Her sister married a certain Green Beret called Falcone and they had at least one child called Vincent Falcone. Despite being anti war etc, Duke's parents still wanted him to grow up knowing his mother's side of the family, despite the philosophical tensions between father and daughter. Thus, Conrad grew up learning about duty, honour and fighting for one's country from his grand father and his friends, they regaled him with their stories humorous, heroic and horrific and instilled in the young boy a deep respect for the sacrifices and nobility of going off to fight for one's country. That's why, Duke kept turning down commissions, he always wanted to be like his grand father and his friends, a career NCO. It also explains some of the tension between Duke and Falcon. Duke was probably always the favourite and despite Falcon outranking Duke, Dukeis always the one other officers listen to first. So in my 'verse, Falcon got his father's callsign and Duke got his grand father's. How his grandfather got the Duke nickname is anotehr story.. |

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but this is quite remarkable.
I was totally blown away 24 years ago about the "Birthplace: Wichita Kansas" in 1985 when Flint came out, and a few years later when Lightfoot was released. But get this, This was 1985, a time before the internet... Flint and Lightfoot are words with indian origins, the name of Wichita is named after the Wichitas indian tribe. Also, Wichita has behind the Mid-America All Indian Center, a 50 foot rusted-steel statue of an Indian chief called, 'the Keeper of the Plains' over the meeting of the Little and Big Arkansas River. And I went to a high school where I believed Flint went to high school, The North High Redskins. The school is right beside a river, The bridge there is adorned with indian and buffalo faces. So is Flint, Dashiell Faireborn a pun on the city's FAIR-skinnEd BORN inhabitants with indian origins? It almost looks to me that The 25th filecard artwork that Flint appears to have a pronounced indian jawline. Pretty awesome if he did all this on purpose, for the 2nd in command of the JOE team. Anyway, I think the Rhodes Scholar thing is also an inside joke too. My Dad went to school in Oxford too. Oxford Kansas that is. Last edited by takedown; 11-11-2009 at 06:21 AM.. |

Now that is cool. Maybe Flint is the 6th indian? But where does Dashiell come from? It's almost the equivalent of Merriwether for our generation. But still I never though about it as I figured Lightfoot was more a play on his job.

That's interesting.I know in the grand scheme of things, some designer just gave the joes their names but traditionally their code names or call signs would be picked by others in their squad mostly. Some are obvious ones that either have to do with their specialty or a play on their names or personalities. Others are damn right bizarre like "Grand Slam" or "Ice Cream Soldier"
I like to think he got his name because he was always the poor sap who Gen Iron Butt Austin would pick on and demand he fetch "Ice Cream Soldier" and the name stuck.. |
