I know in the cartoon they used 100 or so different DNA sequences to make the perfect leader. I forget off the top of my head his comic book origins.
However being an adult with much more knowledge of actual DNA studies, in order to acomplish something like this you would need a base structure to work off of, then modify it for the trates that you want. Isn't likely that Dr Mindbender's own DNA was the base then he used the DNA squences of history's world leaders to see where he could improve himself. Making himself/nextself stronger, healther etc. He wanted to make a race of supersoldiers in his image. In a way Serpentor is his son. I like this idea as it gives the charactors a much deaper backstory/meaning. Was this idea ever hinted at in the story? Or am I reading to much into it & Serpentor is best forgotten? |

In the cartoon they used Sgt Slaughter, and in the comic they used Storm Shadow.

*DDP Spoiler alert*
Actually VideoViper, this makes alot of sense. If you read the DDP comics they make reference to this. Years after the events of the Marvel comics take place and Serpentor has been long dead you find out that Dr. Mindbender had started an entire cult dedicated to bringing back Serpentor. If you remember in the Marvel comics Mindbender takes Serpentors body and hides it. He created 9 clones of serpentor, all young boys about 10 years old. He also created a teenager named Hanibal. They are living incarnations of Serpentor and function as a DNA storage tanks which he uses to re-clone a full adult size Serpentor. Later you find out the government also had thier own Serpentor clone which they created from files recovered from the wreckage of Cobra Island. They activate thier clone under the code name of General Rey.

The joe movie says Cobra La implanted the genetic code idea and schema into Mindbender's mind. The whole helix chain was massive and beyond nomral DNA so it wouldn't need to operate like real world DNA concepts and real science. Hell in todays world they would say nanomites were the base...
I look at it as super science...beyond anything we currntly know or understand about how DNA and other Ribonucleaic acids start thier own replciation process. Its still not understood how base peptide chains reach that level of complexity to self replicate...so anything is possible.

All I can say is that watching G.I.Joe taught me about DNA long before hearing it mention all over the O.J.Simpson trial, who says cartoons can't be educational?
