I know I'm a minority here but as a child of the 80s that grew up with the 80s toys, I am one of the few out there with a big enthusiasm and passion for both the 3.75" and 12" GI Joe figures. Because of this, it's become a pretty big pet peeve of mine to go on forums of any types of GI Joe and find that each one feels it has to insult the other. As if one is inferior and the other is the absolute only way to play with GI Joe and it makes me feel a bit (if you'll pardon my Meme speak) "Forever alone" as I can see the charm and play value of both lines and am sad that so many people are just SO dead set in their way of thinking that they can't appreciate the value of it all.

I'll be honest --- I haven't really seen this. I have respect for the 12" line and have come darn close to collecting them to some degree in the past. I think it is silly if the 2 "factions" can't get along.

My pet peeve with the fandom is when they are "fan dumb."
Some examples: Complaints about casting a Scottish guy as Destro(not knowing the character was Scottish), complaints about casting a black guy as the Blind Master(not knowing the character was black), complaints about the Rock(who is half-black) playing a black character and then saying they preferred it if he played Gung-Ho. |

I respect both, because neither can live while the other survives. Without 12'' Joe, we wouldn't have 3 3/4" Joe, and without 3 3/4" Joe, we wouldn't have the modern 12" Joe.

Yeah, I don't get the hate either. The 12" stuff wasn't from my generation, but I still appreciate it. Hell, I wish they could make a 3 3/4" figure with the same articulation and cloth clothes.
What is really funny is when somebody insults the 12" stuff, then quicly follows it up with "but Sideshow rules!". As if paying $200 for something magically makes it different. |

Haven't noticed that at all. More that people who collect one style tend not to collect the other. Just disinterest, not bickering or bashing.

This is my thought on this, just have no interest in 12" size Joes.

I've absolutely zero interest in the 12" line and am surprised they still sell them in stores. That said, I respect Joe's past. My dad had a small footlocker with the old school stuff he let me play with a couple times. I got very fond memories of that. No hate here.
