If the movie is even made, with a toyline, and the figure is sold with the actor's face (card art aka star wars) portraying the character, would you buy the figure if you hated the actor? imagine ben affleck's mug on flints card, could you separate that terrible image in your head from the figure? of course an actor of different caliber would have the opposite effect.
will hasbro not release a figure or vehicle if it is not shown in the movie, toys dictated by hollywood mediocrity? a question i wanted to pose to hasbro at the con, but the tendons in my armpit gave out after holding it up for 45 minutes. one thing that is unique to joe is the creativity and the element of surprise that is given, and i fear, fear, hollowoods limited imagination in movie-themed toys. |

I doubt that the movie line will be solely restricted to things in the movie. That'll be the focus, obviously. But...now, I don't collect Transformers, but I've seen the movie a bunch of times, and I see lots of Transformer toys in the aisles in the same packaging as the movie toys that were definitely not in the movie. If the movie happens and the toy line based on it is successful, I'd bet we see much of the same thing.

I'm not sure. The 25th line is what brought me back to G.I. JOE. It's the only thing that I'm collecting and when they end the line I will most likely stop my collecting again.

If the movie line does well the flood gates for all the other stuff will open up. Reissues of bigger vehicles and playsets is possible with the movie line, even if they are not in the movie. See, with the movie, there is mass exposure and of course brand recognition. With those 2 in mind, there is a better chance for the older stuff to sell, rather than with nothing onscreen, like now.
The movie could be a huge resurgence for the toyline. The toyline has always been known for an affordable pricepoint. With the demand possibly increasing upon arrival of the movie, the possiblity for more toys increases, movie and nonmovie. |

dibonaventura said they are going to use lesser-known actors (no big name people). so i doubt we will get anything like "Ben Fairborne".
thank god... http://movies.ign.com/articles/834/834519p1.html Quote:
Joe has the additional plus of not relying on megastars that require huge paydays. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explains that their casting search is more about finding actors that are perfectly suited to their roles, regardless of their billing clout.

But no, I won't buy any Joe toys based on the likeness of an actor portraying the character. Vehicles and Cobra troops, if they're scaled to fit with 25th Anniversary figures, are a different story. |

My take on it? If I don't like the actors face, I can either have a horribly scarred Joe, or I can pop their head off and replace it with someone else. There's also the possibility of dropping a helmet on the figure, obscuring their face and having a generic trooper |

I will probably buy any and all movie toys, because for some reason I am a total movie toy whore. Probably because I got into collecting as an adult due to the ToyBiz Lord of the Rings toys, which were ALL actor's likenesses, I don't mind seeing it.
Unless, of course, they get some fugly chick to play Scarlett or Baroness.
