He had a horrible name, but nowadays Zanzibar could be a good villain. Tie him in with the Somali pirates and you've got a very vivid bad guy.
I'd like to see a little more of Zap. His Latino background was never really mentioned. A lot of kids in the 80's never knew that there was a Latino in the original Joe team. I'm surprised that Zap never spoke in that goofy comic 'multi-lingual speak'. Like: "Flash, Stalker and Snake-Eyes...you guys go to the South and try to flank em, amigos".

Out of the entire mythos, which character (based on job/file card/rare appearances) do you think has the most potential and could develop into a top-tier character if done right?
For me, it's easily Mercer Has a decent look, DDP did some more with him, but he had the most untapped potential. Military trained, Cobra trained. Privy to the inner workings. He's an ex-Viper. He's been in and he got out. Why? Why'd he leave? What made him go in the first place, and why is he working with the Joes now? What convinced the Joes that he wasn't a double agent? How does he feel about taking down people (Vipers) that used to be friends? He knows Cobra tactics, weapons, training. He knows how Cobra recruits. He knows codes and base locations. The stories that could be generated from him alone... DDP mined a little of it, but not enough. I would love to see more of him. I never did decide how to resolve it, but I agree he'd have made an intriguing character to explore.

ive got to go with mercer. i think theres enough to him to create his own series. kind of like what they have done with chuckles recently. start by showing missions as a joe but doing some flashbacks to when he was with cobra. they could create some new cobra as his antagonist, someone he disliked when he worked for cobra and someone he has been tasked with tracking down as a joe.
just an idea. Last edited by ray139; 10-11-2010 at 12:04 AM.. |

Another one that DDP used, that I thought could have been used a lot more was Interrogator.
What they did with him was badass and left me wanting more! |

I'd have to go with Falcon. The guy's got language skills, a natural ability to "win hearts and minds", and cross training as a medic. Plus, he's one of the few Joe infantry officers.

Okay, think about this... Original 13, they have TWO electronics/Experimental agents on the team, Grand Slam and Flash. Delve into their backgrounds, or portray them a bit more... Hasbro/IDW makes everyone happy.
1) you have a "historical" representation present as to how Joes get mot of their "high-tech" gizmos, with Slammer helping with the big gizmos, and Flash doing hand held 2) the COMPANY ties in the NEW with the "old" by showcasing characters from 82 in a new light...modern way... HENCE: (sorry to explaine the obvious, but hey!, this is Hasbro...) You satisfy both old and new generations of fans, and you MIGHT just build on a MASS repotoir of storylines involving "ORIGINAL" characters, rather than making "hip" ones for every damn series, that no one really cares about. (IE: Hi-Teck, Long Range, etc.) But hey... What do I know... I've only been a fan since 82!!! ;)
