I like ARAH, don't get me wrong, but every show since Sigma Six, and to a lesser extent, Spy Troops, has been pretty much the same. A few changes here and there, but basically the same. Similar team makeup, similar plots. The line isn't doing to well from what I can gather, stores don't seem to like it at all.
Then it hit me, ARAH was done because the 12' was failing or dead or whatever. It was in a similar position to what the 3 3/4' line is in now. What if Bruce Willis as the original GI Joe, proves popular? What if he out shines Dwayne and the rest of the cast? This is a very unlikely scenario, do kids even know who he is? Bruce I mean, and not many people outside the fandom are going to know who Joseph Colton is unless they start screaming BRUCE WILLIS IS PLAYING THE DOLL YOU PLAYED WITH IN THE 60s. THE ORIGINAL GI JOE, which, yeah, I could see a 'The man the unit is named after' line, it's not too unnatural. But what if he did prove more popular than people expected? More than Hasbro expected? How would the fandom react to GI Joe, as in the 60's figure, VS Cobra, or similar organisation, as the next 'reinvigoration' of the brand? What if this made them give the Adventure Team new code names and personalities? Pretty much retire the 82-On stuff for a while. I know, not bloody likely while the ninja are so popular, but it is food for thought, and maybe a severe change like that could help. I'm not saying 12' figures, they don't sell well, but the original figure being the focal point again for the first time since 69. |

uhm... Joe Colton is part of the JOE team in the movie, not the Adventure Team.
So if he's popular, we'll just see more Colton Joe figures.

I have to be honest, I would like to get a "Bruce Willis" sculpted version of the classic 12" GI Joe! Throw in a bunch of repro accessories and I'm good to go!
They're doing Captain Action figures for the Avengers, why not for GI Joe?

Bah, the only thing I want to see Bruce Willis in is the opening of a retirement home.

I dont see hasbro taking away the gijoe team elements, tc. I see what youre saying and think it would be cool to see a new concept where one well armed guy takes on cobra or a cobra like organization, i just dont see it happening.
There really is no telling, i just dont see hasbro volunteering to cut 300 good characters vs 300 bad characters down to one vs the world.

The Joseph Colton character has had 2 33/4 figures and multiple comic appearances. His connection to the 12inch line was revealed in 1994 in the 33/4 line. He is as much if not more a part of the 33/4 universes than he is the 12inch.

Bruce Willis may bring some sense of box office to the movie but Joseph Colton isn't that huge a character as Duke, Snake Eyes, Flint.
And wasnt' the Adventure Team just a bunch of repainted nameless figures, the only way to tell them apart was their hair and beard color? |

I Can just see it.. Joe Colton figures outshining the legendary Snake Eyes in popularity to the point everyone forgets all about the ninja commando, Bruce Willis could blow us all away and make G.I.JOE 2 a GREAT Movie... and then again it could just remind us all why Demi left him for Aston Kutcher.

Look, let's be realistic here. Most people are going to buy the Joe Colton figure so that they can use the head sculpt to make John McClane customs.
