meh, one of the girls I graduated with is now the toy manager at a Walmart I go to all the time, we got to talking and now she holds figs for me if I ask her to. so in a few more years you may not need those backup stories.

At the age of 32 I've been out of the closet as a collector for well over 12 years and most people think it's cool or quirky. Most of my friends are nuts in some way or another anyway so it all works out. Back in school it was a huge deal and my biggest shame, but looking back on it, should a 6th grader really have felt like a loser for liking action figures? I was just a kid!
Now that I've told you my kid experience, here's the flipside...About 6 months ago I was in a Toys R Us buying Joes and Star Wars figures and the lady at the register was about my age. "Aren't you a little too old for these?" She asked. She didn't say it in a friendly way, it was very cold, as if to say "I despise collectors, you deprive kids of their playthings!" I just smiled at her and asked "Aren't you a little old to be working as a cashier?" Then she shut the hell up and rang up my figures. |

I have 2:
One, I was little, can't remember the age, but I stole a Eagle Force figure from the local drug store. I was at home playing with it when my sister asked where I got it. I told her, thinking she was cool, and she narced to my mom. My mom in turn, took me to the police station and had me explain to them what I did. They told her to take me to the drug store and apologize to them. I was banned from the store for a month (that's bad as it was THE place to go for nickle candy and the likes) Secondly, me and a friend were at Schnucks where we had stolen a boatload of Joes a week before. Now we were getting Transformers. I had already gotten 3 Razorbeaks out of the package when a worker walked by and reported us to the store security. They took us in the back and started grilling us for info. I refused, but to my dismay, I had my damn Joe team dog tag with all my info around my neck. They called my parents and sent me home. When I rode my bike down the street, it was apparent that my sister had told my friends, and they had gathered around. My mom busted my ass right there on the front porch for the whole neighborhood to witness. |

Maybe that I played with them too long. When I was in high school. But I bet that's a few of us.
