I started collecting about a year ago and my collection isn't that big but its growing very quickly. So I find my self torn do I grab the stuff I had as a kid or start putting more money into M.E stuff. My spending so far has been all over the place between the two and its starting to take a toll, my collection is a mess right now. Space hasn't been an issue but it will soon at the rate I am buying stuff.
I love the Vintage vehicles but love the M.E figures over the vintage ones. Yes I know I am violating all kinds of rules by having M.E mixed in with Vintage, lol. Most of my Vintage figures are on my Flagg and most Of my M.E figs are on a 5 tier tower but mixed in with ARAH vehicles. There is still many old ARAH vehicles I want to get and I will have to get vintage figures to man them since the scale is a little of with the 4' figs. I wish the new stuff was still the old size for mixing with my ARAH vehicles. The storage issue for me is I'm am in the Military so I move every 4 years and my collection also has to move with me, this is just another thing I have to think about when I choose what I am going to buy. I have a fairly decent size room now but the next house may not be so spacious. With a budget and space in mind I am curious to see how M.E and Vintage works in your collection. Do you have both or are you a one or the other type collector? Last edited by DaveViper; 03-26-2012 at 03:18 AM.. |

If I can dig the old transformer stuff up from my parents house I would trade it for more Joes. Last edited by DaveViper; 03-25-2012 at 05:05 PM.. |

I still collect both of them. Maybe collect both and change out displays. Although if the doomsayers are right M.E. won't last much past Retaliation.

you got plenty of room. you need a more efficient shelf system.
a big plus about vintage is that you dont have to beg/wait for hasbro to make anything because its all already made. im trying to hang onto both my vintage and new era collections. but i AM seriously limiting my modern era collection to basicaly arah inspired stuff and then SOME stuff that is seriously too awesome to pass up (like poc skydive, or jungle-viper). having those as of yet unreleased modern era vehicles like the hovercraft, moray etc in their original arah awesomeness takes the urgency out of wanting them reproduced by hasbro. so that's nice.

I am working on a getting a table for the Flagg so that will free up a lot of space box's can go under it. Yah I know I need more towers, lol. Thanks for your insight on how you go about collecting M.E and Vintage. |

Looks cool and sounds like a good problem to have. Collect what you like and what makes you happy. Sounds like it's vintage vehicles and updated figures.

Lol, your actually my go to vintage guy when it comes to seeing something vintage I like but didn't have as a kid. I like a lot of the uncommon figures you have in your collection. |
