I loved GI Joe as a kid. Watched the cartoons, read the comic book and had a lot of the toys. I am now 32 and I still love it. My joy from the 3 3/4 plastic action figures is now at new heights.
About 5 years ago my wife left me (my fault guys, I was a jerk). I am active duty Army and was separated from my kids. In 2008 I was deployed for the second time to Iraq. I began talking to my ex wife over Skype and her and I started to reconcile. We got remarried in 2009. During my time in Iraq I would send my son GI Joes that I would order off the internet. Nothing made him happier then coming home to a 25th Stalker, Storm Shadow, etc...When I got home from Iraq I rejoined my family. My son and I spent hours watching old GI Joe cartoons. I would tell him stories about the comic books and he loved every second of it. Today, my 9 year old son, and 8 year old daughter play GI Joe with me. We call our time, "story battles". My son usually takes Snake Eyes and wipes all the bad guys out, and I even have my own team. I am so grateful to share my childhood with them. We have connected on such a cool level. I have attached some photos. The first one is of my team. You'll notice slight differences, but I have a kick ass team. The second picture is my son with all the GI Joes we have. It truely is a great moment as a father to share this with my kids. Yo Joe |

Wow that's a great story, my interest in this plastic isn't nearly as deep. My family tolerates / supports my hobby out of love for me...not for love of the plastic, though my boy does like to "discuss" the different aspects of GI joe and how one character fits with another...but it's more out of curiosity rather than from a standpoint of playing
