I have a similar but different story. I don't have any natural children but my stepchildren have a terrible father and they love me like they're mine. I have two boys and a girl and they all love GI Joes. We spend a lot of time in the garage customizing figures, building bases and forts out of scrap lumber and talking about characters. My youngest is of course the biggest fan and he loves asking me questions. And he really loves quizzing his friends. These "toys" have brought us together more than anything I could have imagined.

Very touching story. I'm happy to hear you have been able to reconcile with your wife and keep your family unit intact. That's so important! Carrying over one of your beloved childhood hobbies into adulthood and fostering interest in it with your own children is a great way to bond, but nothing will serve them better in life than having a stable and nurturing environment maintained by BOTH parents to grow up in. So, kudos for providing that! Take care!

Thank you for your service.
My son loves GI Joe too. He is 6 and we watch the Sunbow cartoons together and play with a mix of RAH and modern Joe figures and vehicles. Snake Eyes is his favorite character in the show and to play with. He also asks me why Duke gets captured so much in the show. I am often amazed at how much he likes the show and the old RAH figures. He even likes watching the old toy commercials and PSAs. |
