Great story and thank you so much for your service to our country. These are the kind of memories that your children will remember to tell their children. Thanks for sharing that.

My son does the same thing with Snake Eyes. Recently he has graduated to Duke. He intuitively knows that Snake Eyes and Duke are the two best Joes, which is great because there are plenty of versions of each for us to choose from. Oh yeah, that was a great story too, lol! Except the divorce part, though I am divorced as well, also because I was a sucky husband. We are both better off. If the same is true for you and your ex wife, then I guess that part was great too, lol!

Wow..After I read this story I felt a strong feeling of gratitude. Alot of peolple think of serving in the military as a job but its alot more than that. being away from their families is a hard sacrifice but not only did you reconcile with your family but you took it to a deeper level. Thank You for your sacrifices and may GOD bless you and always keep you and your family under his loving care. /Salute

That's a great story. It's wonderful to hear you can share your love of Joes with your son and daughter. Actually, I'm a little envious, hopefully I can have something special like that with my niece (since I don't have any children of my own). Also I want to thank you for your service to our country and sharing with us your story.

I loved GI Joe as a kid. Watched the cartoons, read the comic book and had a lot of the toys. I am now 32 and I still love it. My joy from the 3 3/4 plastic action figures is now at new heights.
About 5 years ago my wife left me (my fault guys, I was a jerk). I am active duty Army and was separated from my kids. In 2008 I was deployed for the second time to Iraq. I began talking to my ex wife over Skype and her and I started to reconcile. We got remarried in 2009. During my time in Iraq I would send my son GI Joes that I would order off the internet. Nothing made him happier then coming home to a 25th Stalker, Storm Shadow, etc...When I got home from Iraq I rejoined my family. My son and I spent hours watching old GI Joe cartoons. I would tell him stories about the comic books and he loved every second of it. Today, my 9 year old son, and 8 year old daughter play GI Joe with me. We call our time, "story battles". My son usually takes Snake Eyes and wipes all the bad guys out, and I even have my own team. I am so grateful to share my childhood with them. We have connected on such a cool level. I have attached some photos. The first one is of my team. You'll notice slight differences, but I have a kick ass team. The second picture is my son with all the GI Joes we have. It truely is a great moment as a father to share this with my kids. Yo Joe 2nd - Thanks for sharing such a personal story AND the great, happy ending. 3rd - Lets see some detail shots of your tweaks. That CS SE with the Flint head on the left looks pretty bad ass. |
