Anyone display their collection by a window? I had a setup in front of a window and all the paint looked ok. I thought maybe it was cause of the blinds but nowadays I know glass blocks most if not all UV rays from getting in. I thought maybe the uv was what caused the plastic to discolor. Anyways I moved it but when I put figures on the kitchen tables I put something over them to block the sun from the sky light from hitting them.

I am not sure if all modern windows block UV by default. If they do that would be great, and would go a long way to protecting toys on display.
I have a couple of Ikea glass cabinets in my front living room. I always keep the blinds closed, but my wife always likes to open them when my daughter plays paino. Sigh, it's an ongoing struggle. I want to be able to enjoy my collectoin, but not if they will weather prematurely. |

If it just regular glass then it blocks like 99 percent of uv rays.

3M makes window overlays you can stick to your windows that are UV blocking. Thing is though gives your windows a pee yellow/oily rainbow hue look lol...so either treat the windows or move the collection...if you want too look outside...
Even then you have X-ray and Gamma Rays you cant block..I think thats whats discoloring my Storm Shadow..i have him 15 feet in the back of my closet in a lead box and yet he still yellows!...damn you Gamma radiation!

What about if there is a window in the room but the figures are not right in front of it?

Thing is flourecent bulbs do give off UV as well lol...gotta go LED to lower the UV even then they still relase UV...unknown on exposure to figures at least its not harmful to people...maybe use candles? but then you run the risk of catching your collection on fire...I guess dark dungeons are the only place a collection can be stored safley :(

Direct sunlight is never a good thing for figures. Or paintings, or furniture, or pretty much anything but flowers.
