Hello Everyone,
I wrote an email to Hasbro today detailing my concerns about the Collector's Club. My primary concern among other things was the that "though both its GI Joe and Transformers related business activities, subjected customers to widespread and costly credit card fraud through what appears to be a combination of poor security protocols, and a poor response to said security issues." They make great product, but there are some serious issues right now. -Greg Last edited by denversaur; 02-12-2019 at 04:45 PM.. |

Everybody loves getting letters.
When I open my mailbox it's: bill, bill, junkmail, misdelivery, junkmail, bill... straight to the garbage. All of it. But when I get a letter, it's like "Ooh, a letter! To me!" |

Dude, it's a private club, just don't join or start your own collector's club.
We all know that there is abounding incompetence over at FunPub and they seem to fuck up almost every project they set out on but they are the only ones doing it so they can continue to be as shitty as they like until someone offer some competition. When you say they are hurting the brand you are not really telling the whole story. The Club has done so much to promote this brand it's silly to compare the harm to the good they have done.

Hello Everyone,
I wrote an email to Hasbro today detailing my concerns about why the Collector's Club is hurting the GI Joe brand. It's my hope that they are monitoring the situation, and will consider ending their relationship with the GIJCC and create a new, in-house club more like MattyCollector. The full letter follows. Please read and let me know what you think! You can also contact Hasbro's customer service department and share your own thoughts about the situation. -Greg February 27, 2012 To Whom it May Concern: I am writing to express my serious concerns with the way the GI Joe Collector's Club (Fun Publications, Inc.) is harming the GI Joe brand through its mismanagement of its collector-oriented products. It recently became known that the club, though both its GI Joe and Transformers related business activities, subjected customers to widespread and costly credit card fraud through what appears to be a combination of poor security protocols, and a catastrophically inept response to said security issues. The slow-to-respond, sloppy, unprofessional and frankly snide email communications and statements issued by the club in the wake of this has tarnished the GI Joe brand, in my opinion. They have driven away potential subscribers for their proposed figure subscription service, and may be inviting legal action by responding to this situation with what appears to be an ignorance of proper counsel. They've made statements in their communications that could certainly be problematic. There have also been accusations of inappropriate transactions involving preferential treatment of "toy scalpers" in exchange for cash at convention appearances. These incidents are unsubstantiated but have been subject for discussion on collector's boards such as HissTank.com - G.I. Joe Toy and Movie News and Discussion. These accusations also hurt the brand, and at the minimum, give pause as to whether the GI Joe Collector's Club is representing the brand in a professional, ethical manner. These problems, coupled with the high price points for club items, and membership structure, is not the way GI Joe should be represented. Its a positive, fun and imaginative toy line with a rich history, and an continuing relevance, especially with the new film "GI Joe: Retaliation" coming this summer. I urge Hasbro to consider ending their relationship with the GI Joe Collector's Club, and creating a new in-house collector-oriented club that is more accessible and kid-friendly (with a lower price point and the opportunity to be cross-promoted with retail/main line GI Joe product) that also would be subject to greater brand scrutiny. GI Joe needs to uphold the image of being "A Real American Hero" for both old collector's and newer, younger fans and enthusiasts. Sincerely, Greg Los Angeles, California Do you want Hasbro to shut down the collectoers club? Do you Hasbro to put them on a time out? Seriously, what do you want the outcome to be and what do you think this letter is going to acomplish? Last edited by carion; 02-28-2012 at 03:08 PM.. |

I wrote a similar letter to Hasbro Customer Service. I'd much rather see Hasbrotoyshop.com manage collector based figures like Mattycollector then whats been going on with collector club.

I like the idea of a collector-oriented club, and they make good product. It's just the current situation that needs to be rectified.

hasbro is getting paid...end of discussion.
now if they lapse on their dues to hasbro...i'm sure hasbro will have no issue with ending their agreement. if hasbro thought for even a moment that they could do as good or better than GIJCC...for less...i'm sure they would consider it...i'm guessing they can't...or more specifically, won't. i do hope you feel better after you sent off your letter to heaven...if it was electronic, it was immediately deleted...if you mailed it off, then in a few days...the same result will happen |

really?? This whole CC thing could have happened to any company. I honestly think it was done on purpose. ( I can't prove anyone went after them on purpose, its just a theory). The Club does some awesome stuff and not just for the little Joes but the 12" GI Joes and Transformers. I also like the Club staff. I really hope this doesn't end up harming them. I'd also hate to see Hasbro directly take up the job of running a GI Joe Club in house. I don't think we would get the cool stuff we get from the Club now.

While your letter may have been a valiant effort at the end of the day the club is just that. A club. A private club with key word here (VOLUNTARY) membership. No one is putting guns to people's heads forcing them to join the club. If you do not like what the club stands for the best thing you can do as an individual, is simply not give them any of your money. However, if they are advertising product that meets your demand curve and this product is exclusive, you can thumb your nose at the club and pay ebay sellers prices. Or you have one other option and that entails joining the club to get what you want.
